Congrats @wilfredmbah.bsky.social @edmarkey.bsky.social @electerika.bsky.social in the Dem primaries. As an Independent, I don't often vote in the primaries. But 2026 I voted to displace Christine because she voted YES on HR5366, and to elect Erika to Senate because she voted NO.

#Linux made exempt from age-verification law. It's likely the commerce clause is how governments get away with forcing private companies to violate the Constitutional rights of US Citizens. #OpenSource software for the win. Now how to we get people to go back to using non-corporate websites?

California lawmakers unanimously pass Linux exemption from age-verification law — software distributed under the GPL, MIT, BSD, and Apache licenses are exempt
AB 1856 excludes open-source operating systems from the upcoming Digital Age Assurance Act.

So the DNC Project 2028/9 is towing the line for Heritage Foundation. And none other than Corey Booker is the lead on that, the same Corey Booker who was suspiciously on Peter Thiel's secret dialog seminar invitation list. Democrats are just repackaging the same agenda now. @fightforthefuture.org

While I love that #Bluesky is all about the open internet. the problem is that scrapers take that to mean user generated content is a free-for-all and not still our own intellectual property. It might be time to explore 100% private/encrypted social media options. www.emarketer.com/content/blue...

Bluesky’s privacy problems: Openness vs. user data safety in the age of AI scraping
The social app’s porous data security could undermine trust. Its decentralized vision won’t matter if users feel their content is AI fodder without consent.

This is an important topic your addressing. 99.99% of people do not understand what privacy really is, so they don't know how to approach defending it. Same with not understand how it differentiates from anonymity, and confidentiality, and other ideas.

Not for social media, but we can create a no logs ZKP system that's voluntary and quantum proof. Working on something but then the bigger question is, should we? Why should we help them violate our rights? The other side is, they're going to do it anyway so why not try to make it safe? Ughhhh

In the draft, under Social Media Platform, (vi) has to turn into (i). Legally, the flow of deduction is first to last. So the floor would be (i). A judge will rule in order. Also, there is typically ;and ;or to include or define alternatives. Not a lawyer, but I know this from being in court. 😅

The 2 biggest excuses I hear is (a) Privacy doesn't exist anymore (b) I don't care about my data being shared. But the fact is, your email/texts are to/from others, your locations go to others, your photos aren't all selfies, and more. Those people didn't consent to you sharing their data.

I do NOT support fascism nor the current administration but I'm Independent. I will not tow a blue wagon if it's just more authoritarianism in blue drag. I feel strongly about protecting ALL civil rights, kids included. They will be who wipes our butts in the nursing homes. Don't make them hate us.

Brix Boston @brixboston100.bsky.social · 11/05/2026
How to make kids not Liberals 101: Make them HATE their parents and school by cutting them off from long term bonds. Teach them to not get "attached" in social situation. Make them into sociopath workhorse "professionals" who can mask and go home and cry in the shower like we all do.
010
Brix Boston @brixboston100.bsky.social · 11/05/2026
I agree completely. They'll see when their kids hate them and hate school. They're experimenting on our kids IMO. They want to see if they can "break" neurodivergence and introversion and other things. Like ABA, forcing them to adapt, improves "high masking" (but leads to trauma)
010
Brix Boston @brixboston100.bsky.social · 11/05/2026
Not even real in the adult world. Adults freely associate and also communicate by text/online just as much if not more. It's not preparing them for 2026 and beyond. Kids "interact" fine in the classroom and with teachers that cross translates into employment! Making them "make FRIENDS" is fucked up.
000
Brix Boston @brixboston100.bsky.social · 11/05/2026
Forcing kids to socialize with people they don't want to will backfire. They will resent parents and schools. And they will resent them for cutting them off from their bonds they established. It's cruel and selfish, and neuro-normative. Brains have changed. Forcing them to be neurotypical IS abuse.
100
Brix Boston @brixboston100.bsky.social · 11/05/2026
Where you're wrong is many kids have formed bonds and interact with their peers remotely. Their friends are not at THEIR school. Their friends are at other schools. They do hang out, AFTERSCHOOL. Or online. COVID quarantines played a big role in this. And kids move around.
100
Brix Boston @brixboston100.bsky.social · 11/05/2026
This is government/parent/teacher-wide "blame shifting" IMO. Tech is dangerous, I know, it's my profession. But it's correlation doesn't equal causation. There are deeper issues. 50% of Gen Z have anxiety due to lack of privacy and surveillance. There should be a roundtable about this.
010
Brix Boston @brixboston100.bsky.social · 11/05/2026
Overall, the reason it doesn't work is because it's not the problem. Sure, it increases kids talking WHICH increases SOME kids esteem. Unless the kid is a social outcast or anxious, then they're isolated. And if the kids is a bully then they will look for negative attention or boredom bust.

Schools could have an annual trade-in for any smartphone for a $20 dumbphone or tablet. Unique thing about smartphones is, the ease of laying down with them, popping them out at the table, etc. It's about habit forming while their brains are building neural connections.

Brix Boston @brixboston100.bsky.social · 11/05/2026
If the goal is to prevent harm, doom-scrolling, addiction; I believe a similar approach would work for schools. Ban smartphones, not dumbphones. Ban URLS on school Wifi. Tablets work for med/accommodations. One could even argue banning smartphones for ALL kids <12 which is strict (yuk) but doable.

On their appstores, I used privacy features and a card I could LOCK so they couldn't make purchases or download. I signed them up for 13+ SoMe. Now, my kids accounts deleted. Only my son uses Discord and my daughter uses Snap and sometimes TikTok. Neither doomscroll. My daughter plays outside.🙃
