Today we celebrate the completion of Waterworks II: 21 new permanently affordable homes for seniors and young disabled residents and the final piece of a 15-year buildout that turned an obsolete 64-unit property and a closed school into 240 units of independent, supportive, and assisted living.

MA is now the most expensive state in the country to grow old. In Somerville, older neighbors on fixed incomes of about $30,000 a year face costs over $37,000 just to stay in the community they built. 60% of our residents over 65 who live alone cannot cover their basic needs.

Yesterday the Supreme Court ruled that the Trump administration can strip Temporary Protected Status from 350,000 Haitians and 6,000 Syrians who have been living and working legally in this country for years. The Court said no court can review these decisions.
