Is it time for the Beyoncé Halftime Show featuring the Ravens vs. Texans as the opening and closing act?

Brittney in Iowa @britswit.bsky.social · 25/12/2024

Wow, Netflix. We're in pregame coverage, and there are already buffering issues. Nice work. I'm quite certain NFL fans will revolt if this doesn't get resolved immediately.

Why does Disney+ think it's appropriate to cut When Love is Gone from A Muppet Christmas Carol? I understand it's a sad song, but it's a pretty important plot point.

Brittney in Iowa @britswit.bsky.social · 25/12/2024

A Muppet Christmas Carol will always be a Christmas classic. And possibly the best adaptation of A Christmas Carol.

But Dan Campbell should 100% be Coach ot the Year. Whatever he is doing in Detroit is nothing short of magic.

I'm a lifelong Dolphins fan. But Josh Allen is the MVP this season. He just keeps getting better. I appreciate greatness when I see it.

It was a cute film, but I'm not buying Amy quilts as a profession. Her cutting table & pressing station were TINY. Ripping fabric instead of using a rotary cutter or even scissors? Girl...I'm not buying it. 🤣 (I'm joking & didn't take the film that seriously, but as a quilter, I noticed things)

110

Brittney in Iowa @britswit.bsky.social · 13/12/2024

Also - Amy is a walking fire hazard. Who leaves their fireplace burning when they leave their house!? The Fabric of Christmas aka A Cozy Christmas Quilt is a standard Hallmark-style film, but so many fire hazards for having a firefighter as a main character.

My mom while watching The Fabric of Christmas: "Sewing machines don't rumble! They whir. Who makes these things!?" I hope the Quiltsky community can appreciate this. #quiltsky

Watching The Fabric of Christmas. I wonder if the hot fireman will be able to make a quilt for his sister in time for her Christmas wedding. Will he ask the local quiltmaker to assist? Will love happen? I can just never predict how these Hallmark films will turn out!

Season 15 of RuPaul's Drag Race. I absolutely love Luxx Noir London's confessional commentary. "People don't wear hats enough. Maybe they do wear a lot of hats. I don't know. I don't pay attention." I agree with all of this, girl. About hats AND paying attention. @luxxofficial.bsky.social

I'm up to season 14 on my rewatch of RuPaul's Drag Race. This season has so many firsts and twists that I almost have whiplash. Wish there had been a makeover challenge and puppet, but this cast was A+.

I loved Season 15!! It was entertaining. Have fun! (And remember to go back and rewatch all the seasons!!)

Dear #Booksky Strangers and Friends - I have ADHD and I'm trying to fall back in love with reading. I'll take any suggestions for books that are fast-paced. I love history and culture. I love both fiction and non-fiction. I definitely do better with narrative non-fiction because I need a story.

The Heaven and Earth Grocery Store was my best read of 2023. I didn't realize how exceptional it was until the end. The Small and the Mighty by Sharon McMahon. I just got The Kamogawa Food Detectives from the library. Also on my list: Midnight in the Garden of Good & Evil, James, and Wandering Stars

A Drag Queen Christmas was last night! I want to applaud the incredibly talented and hard-working performers. Seeing some of my favorite Queens from Drag Race was an absolute treat! Crystal Methyd, Nina West, Sasha Colby, Brooke Lynn Hytes? In one show!? I am looking forward to next year's show.

Brittney in Iowa @britswit.bsky.social · 01/12/2024

Calling it a protest is a stretch. There was a VERY small group standing around with some signs. It wasn't impactful. The show was a blast and so entertaining. The Queens were top-tier A+ superstars!

Cankles the Corgi got her own Thanksgiving meal. I call it her Canksgiving Feast.

A dog bowl filled with carrots, potatoes, ground turkey, and apple oats. A Thanksgiving meal for a small corgi.

Humble brag here. This is the quilt I finished on Monday. It's ~80x80. Pattern is Mirage by Laurie Shifrin. I am incredibly proud of how this one turned out. #quiltsky #sewing #quilts #mirage

Patterned quilt made with strip sets with a black ring in the center. Rainbow pattern top to bottom inside the ring, rainbow pattern middle to center and middle outside the ring.

Quilters are the nicest people. Ask for assistance with a pattern, and all of them want to help!

150

Brittney in Iowa @britswit.bsky.social · 26/11/2024

The pattern is Knitted Star from Lo & Behold. I'm a pretty decent quilter and can understand the instruction, but the kit has fabric for one extra row from what the pattern has, and I have no idea how to calculate how much or what pieces I need to cut. Fingers crossed the vendor responds. 🤞🏼

It says a lot about our imagining of the past that in the video game Oregon Trail, you can die of cholera or typhoid or dysentery but not of consumption, even though consumption was the most common cause of death in 19th century America, especially among westward travelers. In this essay I will

I bought a quilt kit at a quilt show a few months back. Kit is for a quilt measuring 61x77. Pattern provide has instructions for a 62" square. I am not even remotely experienced enough to figure out what to cut to add on the extra 15". (An email has been sent to the vendor for assistance!)

Have you even been cutting fabric for a quilt, come across a portion of instructions that seemingly make zero sense, and then walked away from the cutting table? Me either.
