How people vote, according to Evan. Bottom line, it’s about trust.

If true, that 8-day delay is devastating.

Younger voters want a city that engages them and makes them feel like their voice matters. The Leiper campaign is good at doing that and it’s attracting a lot of young volunteers.

Cynical goodies and empty promises make me angry and Evan explain why they work on so many people. I’m still angry.

If the Nanos numbers from yesterday carry to election day, that’s a big problem for Jeff Leiper.

Ottawa's final advance-voting numbers are in: 27,553 ballots over four days (Oct 1–4). That's 75% more than 2018 (15,754) and just 1,416 short of 2022's record (28,969). Woot!

Before advance voting turnout numbers started showing up, Evan and I discussed the importance of advance polls. We disagree, which makes it more interesting, not less. I think I’m right. What do you say?

It’s pretty cool that Elections Ottawa publishes stats day by day. We don’t have those for 2022 or 2018, but we can say that the total after two days in 2026 (13,578) is 86% of 2018’s entire four-day advance polling (15,754) and a little under half of 2022’s four-day total (28,969). I like it.
