Feeling a lot of feelings at the moment. Thinking a bit about one of my favourite quotes from one of my favourite books.

A rough, stylised image of an angry looking wolf, Nighteyes, featuring the quote 'wolves have no kings' from the Realm of the Elderlings series.

A request for a black wolf among cherry blossoms absolutely hit my sweet spot and I just couldn't help but spend a little extra on this one! #mammals #wolves #wildlifeart

A black wolf stands amongst low hanging cherry blossom branches, his head low and his eyes bright.

I had a request for 'a grizzly bear and a salmon who are friends', with an extra generous donation to Wild Green Future- so I indulged in an extra generous little illustration, which was tremendous fun.

A digital illustration done in a bright, cartoony style, with an underwater view of a grizzly bear and salmon swimming together and sharing happy grins.

I'm going to be sharing these little pics I've done for charity donations for the next little while I think, haha! A little puffin in his puffin-hole. #birds

A loose, cartoony illustration of a puffin in his burrow, with a sign outside a la Fellowship of the Ring stating 'no admittance except on puffin business'.

When I say I'm bad at social media I truly mean I'm bad at it, haha! But I recently participated in Wild Green Future's annual charity battle, and offered art for donations- so maybe I'll remember to share some here! One participant requested a red-breasted nuthatch. #birds #illustration #wildlife

A comic-style illustration of a red-breasted nuthatch, clinging sideways to a tree trunk with a determined little smile.

I finished this piece earlier in the year for the Polar Lights charity zine and am still really proud of how it came together! The zine still available at polarlightszine.itch.io and they donate annually to the Antarctic and Southern Ocean Coalition. #wildlife #mammals #muskox #arcticwolf #wolf

A dramatic digital painting of a pack of arctic wolves closing in on a musk ox who stands fierce and resolute against them.

Some nasty weather happening in my corner of the world at the moment, so... time to pull out the watercolours again and have a dabble while we sit tight and wait for it to pass! #fox #foxes #watercolour

A mixed media piece featuring a red fox perched on a hillside against a bright night sky. The piece is accented with some ink pen to bring out the black hairs in the fox and a hint of vegetation, and some slightly abstract lines through the sky in white paint marker that have been digitally touched up.

I have so much love for little round #birds - I can't explain how I felt the first time I saw a wild European robin when I was in the UK a few years back. A couple of little studies here, honestly amazed by the colours on these guys.

A digital illustration featuring two studies of European red robins, depicted in loose strokes and smudges with coloured charcoal brushes.

Haven't worked on a traditional media piece this involved in quite a while, though once upon a time pencil pet portraits were my staple! #goldenretriever #petportrait #pencil #traditionalmedia

Pulled out some traditional media for the first time in a good long while, and it was wonderfully soothing. (And then I remembered the pain of trying to get the image on my screen to decently reflect the image that I hold in my hands.) #wolf #wildlifeart #watercolour #watercolor #traditionalmedia

An ink and watercolour painting of a wolf running through the snow, with most of the detail focused on the wolf's head.

Took me a little bit to realise the 'elk' I'd heard we might spot in Finland were, in fact, the species I know as moose. They're such awe inspiring beasts. #mammals

Little study of a great tit that I was able to watch with great delight while visiting Finland! Coming from Australia, seeing all the little round birds in the snow was like visiting a cartoon fairytale. #birds

I was so blessed to be able to stand in the wilderness of Finnish Lapland earlier in the year; I tried to capture the mood of watching the fog lift over the river, and the soft aurora that came to greet us. #arctic fox #foxes #mammals
