Turns out I mathed wrong yesterday. Somehow I was thinking I only had 11 rows to go on the wee dress when the correct answer was actually 21. Though the truth may lie somewhere in between. #Knitting #Designing #WingingIt 🧶

Here’s a view of the skirt flaring out as I increase the stitches. It shows the waistband and part of the bodice.

Tighter shot of the skirt. The line of increases that goes to the pink marker on the far left is one of the original lines of increase. The white marker at the top of the image is the additional increase line I added once the original stitches had doubled. I’ve done 6 of 16 increases since adding this second line. The original plan is to double them again so I’ve got 10 more to go (20 rows). I’ve already done 1 row so far today out of the 21 needed.

Today’s temperature Project stitches and weekly addition to the thread are going to have to wait till tomorrow. There’s a 50/50 chance of precipitation and not until this evening. Which just means I can start on something else first. Hmmm. I’m thinking the dress first.

In pulling out the minis from the top, I freed up room to finally put the rest of the bday yarn up there. Prince was getting grabby looking for spaghetti so it became a necessity. Now the lft side looks a LOT more presentable. Meanwhile, the rt side is still a hot mess and then there’s the floor.

Left side of the stash:
Bottom is tools
Middle is The West Wing (What’s next?)
Top is all hand dyed.

The right side of the stash:
It’s become a jumbled mess. My West Yorkshire Spinners (WYS) and Lana Grossa yarns are over here as well as a couple other oddball commercially produced yarns. And then more hand dyed. There’s no rhyme or reason where anything is right now. I prefer to have everything sorted by maker.

And finally, the baskets next to me under the desk. There’s projects, left overs, and a bunch of solids down there. The wee dress got chucked by a brown tabby whose name we will not mention. It almost on top of Jazz’s cave in the corner.

I can hear Jake on the phone downstairs. I hope his interview is going well. Meanwhile, #PrinceCharmingTheCat is snoring next to me.

I really want to move #PrinceCharmingTheCat and finish the stitches for September. But he’s falling asleep and Jake has a phone interview in 45 minutes. If I put Prince down he’ll go straight to Jake and be a problem for him. So I guess it’s time to play some games and babysit this furry toddler.

All of the Lichen & Lace minis that didn’t get selected for this year or next’s temperature project are now in a too small tin in the corner. Once I finish this year, whatever’s left & not going into 2027 will join them. No idea what they’ll become yet. Meanwhile, #PrinceCharmingTheCat is a PITA.

Odd angle but whatever. Tin of minis in the corner with pale pinkish, grey, and blue showing. Next to it are some of the 2027 colors. Red, olive, and purple are visible. There’s a bright pink in a project bag that’s wandered over.

Brown tabby sitting between the tin and a wooden swift with a box of quest bars next to the swift and yarn basically everywhere. Prince never goes to that corner. But put a new tin there and he’s immediately thinking about thieving. Do not mistake that vacant expression. He’s Trouble.

I called him out on his potential shenanigans so he came back and gave me the WHO ME? face. Again, it’s a lie.

So now he’s hogging up my desk. To be fair, I shoved the temp project over to make a space for him but it’s almost time for him to go. He tends to overstay his welcome.

Took today off. My room is the darkest room upstairs and it’s extra dreary today. Which is fine, it matches my mood. Couldn’t get my brain to shut up last night and barely slept. I’m going to have to get up at some point long enough to grab my meds, shake some protein, and bring more WiPs in here.

I’m waiting for Jack Smith’s hearing to start. I love everything about this man down to the way he physically carries himself. The way he stands tall with his chin sometimes slightly out reminds me of a boxer daring his opponent to take a swing.

From time to time I get asked to mentor some of my younger, less experienced peers and I always advise them to stand up and stretch, and do something else for a minute when they get stuck on a problem. Getting stressed is not helpful. Breathing is.
