Those are from Ballantine's Adult Fantasy series - I have the whole set. 3 of the 4 are by the great Gervasio Gallardo who just died a couple years ago. There are some book collections of his art. The Hannes Bok book was I think by Ray Cruz, who became famous later as a childrens' book illustrator.

Name a TV show you’re positive nobody remembers but you. STRANGE PARADISE, 1969-70, 195 (!) episodes. A feverish nightmare I thought I had as a kid. Later, when I tried to tell anyone about this show they thought I was crazy and/or talking about Dark Shadows. This was much scarier, though.

For years I've had some lovely elegiac words about dogs rattling around my brain and could never remember where they were from. I finally found them - the last three sentences in this essay by the great novelist Jim Krusoe, from 1993. “I was a dog. I did my best. Now it is finished.”

Unfortunately we are and remain one world. A Canadian-South African tech billionaire's support for an American political party leads to mass death in South Sudanese refugee camps in Kenya; an American-Israeli attack on Iran leads to Thailand buying oil from a Russia that is invading Ukraine.

When I think about lost media I always think about writers from the 20th century who were ridiculously popular and completely forgotten within a couple decades. Gene Stratton-Porter sold like 50 million books in the 1910s and had a bunch of movies made from them and is (I assume) utterly forgotten

Taking a wild guess since I know you only from your work, Ballard may have been a huge influence on a lot of the artists who influenced you. Would that make him your cup of poison? Hard to say. I love him, but I was reading his novels in the mid-70s and the touchpoints were more apparent then. YMMV
