the problem in higher ed regarding the financial costs of institutional resources of care is not that they exist, it's that the service they provide might so very often just lip service

I guess what I'm saying is "things that inconvenience me" is not a useful category from which to launch a critique of higher education

LRT: there's some stuff in the linked substack post that I side-eye (complaining a syllabus needs "policies and procedures for students who are pregnant, bullied, sexually harassed, in need of religious accommodations, having their civil rights violated, or sensitive to disturbing content" red flag)

People keep thinking they can automate the type of admin work often done by women... bc they think their institution is a machine and not a brain. They think it can be recreated as a set of tasks executed w/ rules, and that we can skip the parts relying on relationships, memory, and judgment.

“'Iris in Pyre' is a desolate, echoing mood piece. Cronin is a spectral presence, guiding the track with a hypnotic vocal performance as the instrumentation creeps at a moody, roiling simmer." Thank you @undertheradar.bsky.social for the single premiere! www.undertheradarmag.com/news/premier...
