Clacton used to be a very safe Tory seat. So there will never be a better test of whether Badenoch has improved the popularity of Conservatives than the up-coming by-election in Clacton. It will essentially be Farage’s Reform v Badenoch’s Conservatives. Let’s see what #Clacton chooses. #Clacton

Tonight feels like complete betrayal. Trump announces a deal with putin To sell russian diesel. Greece and Spain reportedly refuse Patriot missiles to Ukraine. Meanwhile, Kyiv is already facing 16-hour blackouts. And winter hasn’t even started. We are being bombed. We are dying.

I have to say it is pleasing that the @dailymail.co.uk paid a fortune to recruit a wanker like Boris Johnson and their own fucking readers hate him! Everybody hates him!! Time to fuck off and grow turnips, Boris #BorisJohnson

In 2019 for example the Tories had 15% vote share. So it’s been halved. The Badenoch Fizz is as tasty to the electorate as the Truss piss.

Yes, Boris, Kemi’s fizz won the Tories a whole SEVEN PERCENT in Holborn and St Pancras, you turnip. Thank God, the country has seen off this arse-faced tosser Johnson at least. Reduced to churning out his bollocks in the Fail.

It’s not that Ed Davey has been bad exactly, but he certainly hasn’t been good. He’s tainted by the Tory coalition. He’s a lightweight. All those stunts. He doesn’t command a room or have a vision. And so on. Mind you, it’s odds on the Libs will pick someone worse! #LiberalDemocrats #EdDavey

Yes it’s very confusing. Did it originally mean the right to have an independent state (which personally I support)? If it has reached the point where Zionism means the right of that state to expand into other states then that is not right. I’m not sure what the Greens were voting on exactly

Is Zionism the right of Israel to have a state or the right of Israel to have a state that can be expanded without limits? Truly, I’m never quite clear when people say they are anti-Zionist whether they mean they dispute the right of Israel to exist or the right for it to expand unchecked?

Yes I loathe Andy Burnham, I confess. It’s true. I despise the patronising way he speaks as if we are all fucking idiots and he’s a reassuring (albeit cretinous) TV children’s presenter. I can’t stand him because he’s a phoney. An untrustworthy grifter. People will wake up to him eventually.

This is SAVAGE
This is a work of photographic genius that deserves to go down in the annals of history. I'm an art historian with a PhD (yes, really) so it's one thing I do know something about.
Let's start with the framing. Dan Winters has positioned his subject lower than the lens. At a basic level it's diminishing the man... no small thing for someone so obsessed with his height.
But it's bigger than that. think about all the portraits you know of Great Men (they are almost always Great
Men)
Statues are set on plinths. Above eye level. So you look up at them.
Or famous images like Washington Crossing the Delaware. Or Napoleon Crossing the Alps. We look up at the figures at the centre of the composition. They're the embodiment of leadership. We are inspired to believe. To follow.
Now, look at the photo. We are looking down at the subject. His mouth gapes. He's as lost and directionless as a toddler in a crowd who can't find his mum.
Or, more aptly, a patient in a dementia wardNow, look again.
It's the eyes that strike you the most.
That's because the photographer has chosen a very shallow depth of field, which means the pinprick focus on the eyes casts the rest of the subject in a hazy wash. Even the American flag pin on his lapel. His one
"mission"... leading the nation... is, symbolically, completely unfocused.
None of this is an accident. Winters made conscious choices when he framed this portrait and chose the settings on his camera.
And the colour saturation...
None of the garish, highly saturated red, white, and blue. Or the glitter of gold. We're looking at a president who has just wandered out of a crypt.
He is a spectre wrapped in parchment-thin, ashen skin with a waft of gossamer-thread hair atop a papery scalp. He's a phantasm with sawdust in his veins and a handful of dust where a heart should be.
But, back on those eyes. If the eyes are, indeed, the windows to the soul, then this man has none...
Trump is wandering through a misty haze. Where is he, even? Who the fuck can tell? He certainly can't.
There's no colour. No sunlight. No life. Just pinpricks of light reflected back from the soulless, senseless, rheumy, red-rimmed eyes beneath hooded and desiccated lids.
They say "I am lost. I am confused. I am not long for this world."
@writtenbymeaghanNo alt text needed, read the alt text on the two prior images. It describes the photo perfectly

Not resounding for Labour; not bad really (in spite of press reaction) for Greens (+22.3). Appalling for the Badenoch Party and Reform going nowhere. Lib Dem’s lost in space. Galloway lost in Siberia. Shame to see Restore getting votes.

It’s shoddy by police admin and the initial judge who didn’t notice the mistake. But I imagine police and legal services are underfunded and under stress these days.
