I cannot say "thanks" enough to all of you who supported, shared and backed THE UNSLEEPING EYE. It's the kind of book that can only work with independent supporters like y'all. So again, thank you. "May the fruit neither wither nor die."

This isn't about my philosophy of making comics. That's up to the one creating them. I'm talking about the ontology of THE UNSLEEPING EYE. It's a bastard born from two comic book lovers. We hope you'll join us on the road onto Mercurial. Thanks for reading. www.kickstarter.com/projects/dre...

No rules, no cares, just an object to bless us that could be anything we wanted. We used the form in all of its ways to build a sulfur-breathing world. Packed with life in Hell the way it was meant to be. No restrictions or expectations on where it would take us. A comic book through and through.

The Oddfellows themselves developed personalities and particularities. Each with their own interior world that we often only see glimpses (thank Goodness)! A rotten group to contrast the normal people of Mercurial. Kurt and I made something for us... a book that felt alive.

Brian Level @brianlevel.bsky.social · 15/09/2026

We didn't have to ask permission to add pages, or articles or wraparound covers, or talismans or anything. Mercurial was lawless, but for us, it was free. Our articles explore the nooks of the town, and the human interest stories, and desecrated neighborhoods. Past and present.

Brian Level @brianlevel.bsky.social · 15/09/2026

The world was rich and full of nightmares. But also full or wounded people. As we built TUE we both started to fall for its charm. It was funnier than we imagined. And sweeter. More Stephen King than Lovecraft. We kept going and the articles showed up.

@kurtbelcher.bsky.social and I made a book that we knew had an audience. And that audience of 2 people got what they wanted. We wanted to make a weird fic book about newspapers, ghouls, small towns, and more. Hard to pitch, easy to read, and full of heart/gore. Mercurial had to be lawless.

Brian Level @brianlevel.bsky.social · 15/09/2026

Since there are a few days left on the campaign, I wanted to get a little sentimental about The Unsleeping Eye. This book matters to me because, it's not just about what's in it, it's what it IS. www.kickstarter.com/projects/dre... (Art by Iain Laurie)

The Unsleeping Eye is near and dear to Kurt and I. You all know it's violent and nasty and strange. But we never skip the tender moments. The moments that make life worth living. That make Mercurial worth saving. Back the campaign. Save your neighbors from hell. www.kickstarter.com/projects/dre...

We're not a family book. But we're definitely a book about a family in ruins. Blood, tears, goblins, occult undertones, sick jokes and a blessed community newspaper. THE UNSLEEPING EYE is unflinching weird fic. Live now! www.kickstarter.com/projects/dre...
