What are you reading this Banned Books Week?

The live take of "Thunder Road" in that Springsteen box is my favorite version of that song.

I don't post a lot over here, but I realized some of my connections I follow here might not know about my pretty big Saturday if I don't mention it here. It was a pretty great day. (photo credit: www.instagram.com/angelbrownph...)

This is wild! Two artists and a song title I would never have put together.

I just noticed the new Phoebe Bridgers record also features glow-in-the-dark spot gloss inside the gatefold. The only lyrics that glow (they're not visible in the light) are for the secret, unlisted track on side D, which I think is pretty neat.

I broke down and bought the most expensive album package I’ve ever gotten, but it's one of the absolute best I own, so no regrets. There are 226 copies left, so get on it if you want to hear something really great (the songs are not available on streaming). Happy National Vinyl Record Day, everyone!

This record was released in 1989 (so too early for AI accusations), and I have known it for many years. But today is the first time I realized this guy has six fingers on his right hand.

How do you say “I’m on the bandwagon” in Québécois?

How come nobody told me it was Mojo Nixon Day

If you're in the Towson area, there's a new El Salvadorian restaurant called El Rincón Salvadoreño at 905 York Road next to the Towson Vaporium - pupusas are excellent (my mother is El Salvadorian so I know from good pupusas!)

More evidence of the importance of the Oxford comma. I thought Glen Hansard and Moby sounded like crazy collab.

Yes, that’s a perfect description of meeting him, still.

Seeing him for my ninth time in about a month!

The Sinners OST arrived in my mailbox today just in time to see the film receive well-deserved nominations for Best Original Score and Best Original Song (among a record number of other categories) at the Oscars.

That solo’s really long. But it’s a pretty song.

If I never see another "You know Elf on the Shelf..." joke again, it will be too soon.

This exclusive edition of John Prine’s Lost Dogs & Mixed Blessings was worth the wait! Thanks, @ohboyrecords.bsky.social!

Spot the differences! For a long time I was frustrated to have only the first BOMP! repress on the right. I finally found the original Mohawk first pressing on the left for a (relatively) reasonable price. I still don’t know why “I’m Straight” was removed from all later pressings.

I can't be the only one who knows a little something about Bob Dylan (including how his career actually turned out) who reads his response as an obvious joke at Berklee's expense?

Today marks the 10-year anniversary of the first vinyl record I ever bought (though my parents had a record collection when I was a kid, my own purchases were all cassettes, followed by a transition to CDs), beginning a hobby and bit of obsession that has kept me busy all these years later.

It turns out I was right! In the electric version of "Atlantic City," he changes the line “I’ve got debts no honest man can pay” to “I got in too deep and I could not pay.” Though he also changes the lyrics to "Johnny 99" a bit, that's where he decided to keep that line in Electric Nebraska.

Brian Sawyer @brianjsawyer.bsky.social · 25/10/2025

I'm sure he wanted to make sure these great lines ended up somewhere and these were just intended as demos. I always assumed he had intended to fix the repetition in the studio versions of the tracks.

Nebraska is my favorite Springsteen album, and its story is even more impressive (I haven't seen the movie yet, but I read the book). One nagging thing the editor in me always notices, though, is how a few lines find their way into more than one song.
