Once again, I was not talking about Drumcree specifically. I see this decision as a symptom of a wider problem of political failure. Is that so hard to understand? Are we not to address the cause instead of the symptom?

I was making a general observation on the mood as I see it over recent years. And I see increasing division consistent with rising populism. The Parades Commission decision beggars belief, further dividing a divided society. It's part of a wider failure of government IMO.

I'm not convinced anything ever changed. For many, life has certainly improved since the Belfast Agreement was signed, but there has always been a bigoted and active minority of unionism and nationalism just below the surface. Since the rise of the far right, it has just become more open and brazen.
