Those are such a great pairing, right there at the pivot. The segue from classic synthpop into reflective dreampop works really well. I've always liked that juxtaposition.

Yep, an argument perhaps for albums to follow the movie template of theatrical and directors cuts. Theatrical = Laid and Directors (producers in this case) = Wah Wah. Or a combi. Tragics such as ourselves would be in line for the expanded every time.

Lead single Pride was ham fisted but the album is intricate and shimmering. Its almost ephemeral. Homecoming has a poetic wonder to it. MLK, Elvis Presley In.... just jaw dropping. It was interesting to see them conquer the world while same time being so fragile and sensitive. Amazing.

Antwerp Kavka Zappa. A newish venue and a bit boxy imho. Too much panelling. Sound was a mess. Not a sell out neither so I suspect the lads were secretly disappointed at the crowd which lacked both numbers and engagement. Compared to Paradiso it's probably a crushing comedown. NL crowds are better
