bretton @bretton.dev · 10/10/2026A few ex FB coworkers used to really emphasize how FB as a company would not be the same without groups. It was a huge % of their usage even beating out the regular feed usage! 000
bretton @bretton.dev · 09/10/2026Claude Code gets a lot of hate but it's memory system is really incredible in a large multi repo / cluttered enterprise system setup 220
bretton @bretton.dev · 07/10/2026Is this in CC or custom harness? Curious if it's possible to force the swarms to stay under 100k. I think auto compaction would set it on the orchestration model as well 110
bretton @bretton.dev · 05/10/2026Guy who forks something pre-Claude just to use a Chinese model to fight against American hegemony Is this anything? 010
bretton @bretton.dev · 04/10/2026They are very anti LLM though which is frankly extremely annoying. 000
bretton @bretton.dev · 04/10/2026Not sure if any atproto devs care about the Fediverse but there's often quite a few atproto platform chats over there If I was a dev I would keep an eye on these as a space to chat about the platforms, goals, protocol, etc when it pops up Ex of the Colibri thread coves.social/c/fediverse@...coves.socialColibri chat system (Discord-like thing based on ATProto)Still a bit alpha, but looks promising. Several features seem to be waiting for atproto implementation. 110
bretton @bretton.dev · 04/10/2026@popfeed.social I would love for this bug to be fixed on Android 000
bretton @bretton.dev · 04/10/2026People making Minecraft in Skyrim and Mario in Elden Ring type mods via AI might actually be what wins a huge chunk of antis + younger gen over. Slowly but surely LLMs will touch everyone's digital hobby in a way that they go wow that's cool, and force introspection when they discover it's LLMs 001
bretton @bretton.dev · 03/10/2026I think this is effectively what the typically atproto labelers are today, and when the labeling system is fully up there's no reason it wouldn't work. But I think that's an entirely separate conversation from community and admin based moderation that are automatically set at server/community. 020
bretton @bretton.dev · 03/10/2026Feel free to check out my project coves.social I have some interesting community tribunal based moderation planned. But moderation work has really been dragging (it's annoying implementation wise) 110
bretton @bretton.dev · 02/10/2026Seeing all the appetite lately for a "Reddit on atproto" has me really hyped for Coves and a world where the broader Threadiverse can finally thrive 020

bretton @bretton.dev · 02/10/2026Get regular users used to the oauth PDS screen by making the app go through it. 99% of users don't realize they have an atmosphere account on bluesky, not vice versa. 040
bretton @bretton.dev · 01/10/2026I just took "Where We're At", the annual survey of people building on the AT Protocol! ☁️ Take the survey here: where-were.at/2026where-were.at2026 · Where We're AtAn annual developer survey of the people building on the AT Protocol. 020
bretton @bretton.dev · 01/10/2026I also have been working on this for a bit. Feel free to let me know if you want any interop if you get things to a solid spot in production! tangled.org/bretton.dev/...tangled.orgbretton.dev/covesA community based topic aggregation platform built on atproto 250
bretton @bretton.dev · 01/10/2026Peep here! coves.socialcoves.socialCovesCoves — community forums on the atmosphere 020
bretton @bretton.dev · 01/10/2026Self plug, but will probably enable community creation on coves.social soonish (~2-3 months hopefully). Selfhosting them already technically works if you're fine with some manual moderation quirks. Private communities not on the road map for now though 010
bretton @bretton.dev · 30/09/2026Why do you view it as outsourcing instead of empowering? There's still a level of let me try things and determine what I like, what I don't etc. It's no different than a Spotify radio. 000
bretton @bretton.dev · 29/09/2026The quicker people realize most SAAS tech jobs effectively contribute nothing to society, the quicker we can restructure jobs and the global economy to impact society. Very slim opportunity granted to us via AI, to actually drive a purpose individually today. 010
bretton @bretton.dev · 28/09/2026It really puts into perspective why all the AI leaders are talking about slowing down if they're releasing these big of jumps externally I can't imagine what they've discovered internally. 220
bretton @bretton.dev · 28/09/2026Me asking Claude for extra hints on the easy crossword, then immediately deleting the chat after so it never knows how much of a dumbass I truly am 000
bretton @bretton.dev · 27/09/2026One of my most underrated uni classes was a required capstone history of science & engineering class. Going into it, I definitely had a "Why am I here attitude" only to end up with it as one of my favorite classes. 020
bretton @bretton.dev · 23/09/2026On the other hand it did just DOSd my production server while writing a dev test 🤔 110
bretton @bretton.dev · 22/09/2026Ahh that's annoying, I used to get flagged for a ton of network level/cryptography work that no longer gets flagged. Biology seems like an insanely light trigger though 010
bretton @bretton.dev · 22/09/2026Not sure if you swapped to GPT, but ever since the change to Fables guard rails ~a month or two ago I haven't had any problems with pretty much anything that was getting flagged on Fables release. 110
bretton @bretton.dev · 21/09/2026Would love to run back the threads fediverse drama but on atproto this time 010
bretton @bretton.dev · 16/09/2026Goated atproto idea if anyone wants to yoink it: Stickers Each user can create custom sticker packs that anyone can use, each platform can choose to incorporate users packs into their platform in their composers. Effectively global atproto telegram / tiktok stickers 240
bretton @bretton.dev · 15/09/2026Atproto peeps boost this 🙏 Huge amount of effort to get it to this point, happy to now officially have a starting web version for everyone. Also this is a fork of the Photon client so huge shout out to all the contributors over there! 000
bretton @bretton.dev · 14/09/2026Also vote state becomes a really big pain in the ass with a client side only architecture On my backend it's just purely handled via there and the atomicity is handled cleanly, cached cleanly, works across devices, etc Reconciling vote states with the frontend is a PIA imo. 000
bretton @bretton.dev · 14/09/2026How do you handle user ban / timeouts? Is it just a 40 ish second latency (not even sure what the latency actually is) on the firehouse ingest? 000
bretton @bretton.dev · 14/09/2026Also if you're looking to build an open interoperability ecosystem the backend handling all of this makes it much more accessible. Yeah it's not *too* complicated but every frontend dev knows how to hit an endpoint properly compared to how many know every atproto nuance. 100
bretton @bretton.dev · 14/09/2026Oauth handling is way cleaner UX with a confidential client backend. For moderation stuff the server side can compute a lot more and return a cleaner response than just a frontend write which will be a much cleaner UX experience vs a wrong optimistic write. 100
bretton @bretton.dev · 13/09/2026@graze.social just fyi the AI feed generation always seems to time out at 9000 ms. Also would love some type of cli for a BYO AI! 100
bretton @bretton.dev · 12/09/2026One monitor supremacy! I can alt tab faster than I can swivel my neck 000
bretton @bretton.dev · 10/09/2026I've definitely been interested in trying it, I'll probably give it a shot soon 010
bretton @bretton.dev · 09/09/2026Astra broke my dev environment the other day. Fable still is the king of never giving me any problems ever. No reverts, no dev env breaks. I think Astra is really intelligent, but there's an empathy aspect missing, particularly recognizing the impact a task has on others. 130
bretton @bretton.dev · 08/09/2026Also if the expectation hasn't gone up and you can complete your job in a much much shorter time frame why wouldn't you take that opportunity? 001
bretton @bretton.dev · 04/09/2026Been using for ~3 ish years + VPN it's been great, no complaints. Only 1 site autofill doesn't work on which is much better than everything else I've tried. 010
bretton @bretton.dev · 03/09/2026Thank you for the feedback definitely feel free to let me know if there's anything else that comes up that bothers you or that you'd like to see 010
bretton @bretton.dev · 03/09/2026Also yes! It's we call them aggregators (bot accs) so the feed isn't dead it's just reposting an RSS feed. I definitely need to put a little bot icon in the front end though! I had it marked todo and it totally fell off my radar 110
bretton @bretton.dev · 03/09/2026I think ultimately right now sign on flows are really hard to do since it's not standardized across the masses like regular SSO. I've definitely thought about re-working this but not sure what it'll actually look like. The sign in with bluesky seems to help more of the every day user 010
