Btw, I didn’t create the term “utopian porn”. Saw it recently in a post and instantly embraced it.

periodically reminded that I would not want the burden of being a politician in Michigan. I’m old enough to remember when they encouraged the slimiest bit of yellow perilism. Someone even died because of it. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Killing...

TIL that deadmau5 was a Something Awful Goon. Rumor has it that he got his name from when a mouse died in his computer tower and he posted photos of it in their IRC channel.

I guess one of the reasons why it’s difficult to tell what Vance actually believes is 1.) There’s a high probability that he doesn’t believe in anything 2.) Some of the sharpest minds in the world have a hard time making sense of Yarvin’s pretentious word vomit.

Press never beats the drum like this but there’s way more of an electorate for moderate republican than moderate democrat in a lot of states. The problem is “moderate” republican has been totally eliminated from the party.

BlueSky doesn’t want to admit this, but this is one of the reasons why certain people dabble in punditry and “politics”. Behind every pundit is a failed career in art. Rufo was a bad filmmaker before whatever he is now.

Since it comes out in just over one week, I should probably talk a bit more about my book. Despite the subtitle, it’s very much talking about both music and cycling in Japan for most of the time, though it’s something a bit different from a guide to those things.
My book, “Tokyo Doesn’t Exist - not a guide to music or cycling in Japan”, held up against a background of greenery to make it look more interesting.

Chris Dixon's "Read, Write, Own," gave me a partial vision of its potential. In retrospect, the Zuckerberg's vision for the metaverse was destined to fail once Meta slapped a price tag on "owning" its services.

I dunno about the people who keep their relationships a private matter, but it’s uncontroversial that the people who post about these lifestyles on main, brag about them, or make it about they—themselves—as individuals are narcissists. And the odds are heavily stacked against their favor.

I also don’t think that Crissy Rufo believes it either because it means that he’s either going to abuse his kids or encourage other people to abuse his half-Thai children to get them to assimilate. But who knows, Crissy is a very unique specimen of pick-me-ism.

For as much as people scoff when Dem politicians say the country needs a sane GOP, they’re right because you can’t just win every election. Thermostatic opinion is a bitch and you’re going to lose sometimes because of it. The insulation against that is losing to a party that won’t drive off a cliff.

I don’t like Jonathan Chait, but when he finally “gets it”, it’s unproductive to start scolding him. People like him eventually double down and one of the most toxic delusions of this website is that being an annoying scold is praxis. Only cultural Protestants think this way.
