It's the two-astronauts-with-gun meme, only the Earth has been replaced with a circumscribed human figure labeled "You in your entirety, including your flaws, struggles, and insecurities". The astronaut closer to the circle is saying "Wait, it's all loveable?" The astronaut behind him is holding a bouquet of flowers up and saying "Always has been".

Transgender youth health care would be nearly banned everywhere under new rules www.npr.org/sections/shots-health-n…
Screenshot from linked article:

> Dramatic new expansion of power

The proposal to condition a hospital's participation in Medicaid and Medicare on halting gender-affirming care for youth represents an "unprecedented" use of the executive branch's power to control what medical care is available in hospitals, says Keith.

"Because Medicare is such a significant portion of many hospitals' revenue," she explains, the rule would essentially force hospitals to end their gender care programs for transgender youth. That would mean all of those programs' patients - whether they have Medicaid or private insurance - would lose access.

Quote from the Simon's notes, linked in the parent post:

* Google, Microsoft, Meta and Amazon all have net-zero emission targets which they take very seriously, making them "some of the most significant corporate purchasers of renewable energy in the world". This helps explain why they're taking very real interest in nuclear power.

* Elon's 100,000-GPU data center in Memphis currently runs on gas:

> When Elon Musk rushed to get x.AI's Memphis Supercluster up and running in record time, he brought in 14 mobile [natural gas-powered generators](https://www.npr.org/2024/09/11/nx-s1-5088134/elon-musk-ai-xai-supercomputer-memphis-pollution), each of them generating 2.5MW. It seems they do not require an air quality permit, as long as they do not remain in the same location for more than 364 days.

Toyota has lost the plot. Time to start calling for boycotts. www.commondreams.org/news/toyota-do…
Quoted from article:

While billing itself as a global climate leader in recent decades, Toyota was named by InfluenceMap as the third-worst company in the world for anti-climate lobbying, after only fossil fuel giants Chevron and ExxonMobil.

InfluenceMap's 2024 scorecard "highlights Toyota's lobbying efforts against emissions standards in the U.S. and Australia and against EV mandates in Canada and the United Kingdom, as well as Toyota's success in weakening emissions stands in the U.S. and fuel efficiency standards in Australia," reads the Public Citizen report.

An orange tabby cat is curled up with his eyes closed in a white terry-cloth sack suspended from a hoop, attached to a white cat tree. The sack is obviously overfilled because this cat is enormous, and the cat's weight on the hoop is pulling the cat tree about 30 degress off of vertical.
