I banned @stillwellgray.ca from being mean to my Teddy Ruxpin, too. (Who I killed by jamming him full of quarters, but nevermind.)

There is a way that I, personally, read highly publicized apologies to extremely litigious and culturally powerful men when they are issued in advance of major lawsuits, and that way is the correct way. Apropos of nothing.

I finished the slide deck for this yesterday and if you like manifestos and making space for refusal, you’ll like this session. (If you don’t like manifestos and being opposed to things you probably don’t follow me?)

I think the only fun thought experiment vis a vis generative AI and sentience is imagining how much Andrew Wakefield and Richard Dawkins’ chatbots would goddamned hate them if chatbots were capable of anything other than sycophancy.

Brenna Clarke Gray @brennacgray.bsky.social · 06/10/2026
The main reason I know AI isn’t sentient is because look at the losers the chatbots are marrying.

Super curious about how this list of members is curated. It looks pretty inaccurate to me.

Kimi Antonelli is to Olivia Rodrigo as Fernando Alonso is to Taylor Swift would make for a wild SAT prep question.

When your whole audience went "suicide" my jaw legit dropped because usually local terms for things are folksy and cute, but this was a left turn for me. I have been on a journey.

People and agencies opting for "super intelligence" in common parlance is a very useful tell for their propensity to comply in advance. It's not more accurate, easier to say, more useful, or more descriptive. It's just an authoritarian attempt to see what they can get away with linguistically.

It’s good that Fernando Alonso signed to another year of Aston Martin because I’m pretty sure I will simply dissolve into dust when he retires.

My main question for the Mary Beard stans on the timeline is what do you understand « love » to mean? Because for all apparently treating reading as a component of wellbeing is allegedly dooming society, I’d posit that she has a painfully facile notion of what people mean by « love » for an adult.

Sometimes I wonder about how he possibly got that job and sometimes I remember that Mark Carney was on the list of people he brokered art deals for that got him fired from the CBC. Anyway I’m sure these are unrelated things.

The rainbows are not for nothing -- it's how they keep getting my vote -- but I'm not surprised people don't mobilize with excitement for "slightly more to the middle, but never on principle."

I deeply resent that this is what progressivism looks like in this province: the same ghoulish, craven politics as the other guys, but with rainbows.

Remember when John Horgan launched a Covid spike across BC so he could have his opportunistic election call? Lord knows what the actual cost of that gambit was. This one seems to be going just as well for the most marginalized folks in the province.

We have always had a two-tier approach to academic integrity in the university structure. “Culture” of academic integrity is usually a list of rules for students to follow and limited accountability for anybody else. AI has exacerbated this but it did not create it.

I’m mostly only doing virtual conferences these days but I do have a paper I wrote for the other comics conference about the impossible task of defining a national literature for a textbook which I’d be happy to repurpose in any manner that doesn’t involve conference travel.

But like, it's not like there's a threat from the opposition, they're a mess. They can absolutely govern under these conditions, they just don't want to.
