First episode of the new season of Black Mirror hits a lot harder when you’ve had a partner go through (and currently deals with) traumatic brain injury. Oof.

A local business that holds a significant national anti-queer legacy is shuttering its doors at the end of March. I’ll take small wins when I can get them.

Called out my supervisor to my department director over five months of incompetence. Not the first time, but severity has increased. Wish me luck. I just want to be able to do a great job for the district I love.

I need to learn more about the west marches format of RPGs. Backed the new Shadowdark West Reaches set in anticipation of building a local group. I wonder if all of the different therapists I’m pulling into therapeutic gming would be co-gms and have it be skill focused adventuring.

I’ll be performing speed weddings, and we’ll have tons of resources available for trans folks. Most importantly, we’ll have a lot of people who want you to know you’re wanted, loved, and every bit a part of this community as anyone else.

I don’t think I’ve started blasting out my little queer-friendly gaming convention. If you’re somewhere around eastern Washington, you should totally check us out 💚 We cater to the socially anxious, neurodiverse, and introverted, and we have lots of games :) tabletop.events/conventions/...

First day of teaching zine design to a bunch of high school students. At one point they were all silent and working independently. That’s probably a pretty decent sign.

Part of why folks doing social improvement work burn out is that their friends tell them “I want to do something” when they mean “I want to feel better.” If you aren’t already active, actually knowing what you want is essential. Going to your friends, signing on, then disappearing hurts a lot.

It’s cool if the bad supervisor lets the new guy hop into production databases and make a bunch of undocumented adjustments without communicating it to the rest of the team actually building the application right?

Building a repository of LGBTQ+ resources for Tri-Cities folks. Our queer friends are having to answer the same questions for folks repeatedly. This will give them a tool to point people toward vetted, reliable sources of information, safety, and community without taking more of their energy.

Louisiana has 6.14 police officers for every 1,000 people, vs Washington's 1.36 per 1,000. And yet, we're actually *safer*, with a violent crime rate that is better than average. We don't need more police, we need more social services. app.leg.wa.gov/committeesch...

CRM has launched for our community outreach department. Yesterday I met with the two people responsible for teaching and creating a better learning environment for all of PSD’s visually impaired students. They had some fantastic, and immediately functional ideas that I’m currently scoping out.

Called in sick for a mental health day. Sending emails to representatives, dropping off some board games to a cold shelter, running a therapeutic GM session, spending some money at queer owned businesses. Probably start developing some free rpg utilities for remote gaming. Little bits.

For my therapeutic GM groups, the skill that gets mentioned the most for clients is conflict resolution in social settings; i.e. where the solution isn’t punching someone in the face. I’m plotting out a Shadowdark mega dungeon that’s nothing but a big gala in a palace.

I love building microapps. I’m hoping to release one every week or two at work to help other departments reduce waste. First one is a CRM for our community outreach director. PSD is operating with about a $5.5M deficit this year; I’d love to take a chunk out of that.
