Helped out as a temp in a credit counseling service's office in 2000 making sure files were up-to-date. Takeaways: 1. People who have the best stuff often got it by being >$30K in debt. 2. Never carry a balance on my credit card. 3. Creditors would rather get some of their money than none of it.

Chicagoans/railfans/Chicago railfans of Bluesky: does anyone have a map of the proposed new Amtrak yard in Bridgeport? The locals are freaking out, claiming it will displace hundreds of people, but it seems more likely they'll only use the existing yard + maybe some of the stadium parking lots.

bloomberg has a fun article today arguing that the Cybertruck is the biggest flop in automotive history. it includes this glorious graph.

The Cybertruck had a sales.target of 250k in its first year. They sold around 40k, the next year they sold about half as many.

Question for freelancers and computer people: I'm thinking about ditching my Microsoft 365 subscription for my home devices in favor of LibreOffice. My main concern is that when I freelance, I exchange files with my editor in .docx format with change tracking. Will LibreOffice carry that through?
