In a report by @beyondplastics.bsky.social , researchers hid trackers inside Starbucks cold cups and dropped them into the company's own recycling bins. Not one made it to a recycling facility, and most ended up in landfills or incinerators instead. #GlobalPlasticTreaty [1/2]

His water sampling downstream of the Kemal Deniz recycling zone found a 10-fold increase in microplastics vs. upstream sites. Separate canals downstream of other Adana facilities showed concentrations 132x higher than upstream. Farmers use these canals to irrigate crops.
