They are very upset about him. Not only is he black, which is "not realistic" in 15th Europe, they're tremendously upset that the game allows him to express the opinion he thinks his country of Mali is superior to (presumably) Bohemia.

You could construct a genuinely leftist echo chamber in here if you wanted to, but I don't think that's the default experience right now. We can't really say "regardless of X", because X has had such a big part in the rightward shift of the Overton Window. Today's left is yesterday's center-right.
