Does anyone else struggle with the existential dread that is knowing there's no way you'll be able to complete all the projects you want to do before you die? LGR kind of touched upon it during his post-VCF video. For me it's mostly all the things I've started but haven't finished and may never.

Completed Syndicate. Unlike every other RTS game I've played, this got more enjoyable as I played it.

Reading the manual and noticed there was a guy on the Bullfrog staff called Michael Diskett. Pretty funny. Also, the names of the agents that you can recruit into your syndicate are the surnames of the staff. I also noticed some of the missions have famous coder names like Cauldwell.

its a goofy 3d renderin o discatte, actually a bad 3d extrude from inkscape we colored, and stacked the z-offset of each part, so its kinda like cardboard but pastel

Syndicate. I'm playing it properly for the first time because I generally hate strategy games. Loving it. It has its issues but most can be circumnavigated. Gonna write something up for my blog.

I have actually spent many, many hours playing this game and hardly any playing the first two. I loved it!

1/ Some years ago, I wrote articles for my blog about the games I used to play during certain CPU eras (386, 486DX4, Pentium III) and I linked to (and credited) screenshots from Mobygames because they had all of them right there already. Now they've changed things so the links are broken.

1/ Watching the Digital Foundry review of the new GTA VI gameplay trailer and honestly I couldn't give a shit about most of what they're saying. Maybe it's because I've never had current hardware, PC or console. Maybe it's because I grew up with DOS games, or because I expect variable performance.

Just watched the remastered @kimjustice.bsky.social Complete Story of GTA I to V and realised two things: 1) I've only completed the OG, the PSP releases and V. 2) aside from the first game, I've never had a PC that was capable of playing any major release when it came out. youtu.be/kOT2ytyAau4

SG-1000 games now work on the #Colecovision thanks to PicoPak CV. No conversions required. Will add support to run Sord M5 games (along with a couple other similar spec hardware) and finally MSX 1 games with an attached Super Game Module. PicoPak is gonna be 🔥

For the uninitiated, X-Wing Alliance took everything that was great about its predecessors and excelled at them all. Tricky and engrossing single-player story mode, multiplayer, and a finely-tuned in-flight control system. It also allows you to pilot ships like the Millennium Falcon.

Whoever it was at Bose who designed the power adaptor for the SoundDock should be shot. 1. It's upside down. 2. The 'clever' design that means you can tidily wrap the lead around the adaptor for neat storage means any double socket it's plugged into becomes a single socket. Faux pas.

During lockdown in 2020 I discovered the X-Wing Alliance Upgrade and got quite far into the game. Recently I went back to it but had lost my progress so had to start again. There is a new upgrade for 2025, however, which I can now enjoy fully! The PS3 controller over Bluetooth is great for this.

nVidia tech demo devs in 2012 be like: Manager: "we can't objectify women like we did in previous tech demos. Dev: "no problem, we'll make a fairy - they're not real" Manager: "will it be a female fairy?" Dev: "...yes?" Manager: "will she be mostly naked?” Dev: ".......yes?" Manager: "great"

I loved Quake when it came out, but my 486DX4/120 did not. So when Duke Nukem 3D appeared and it ran brilliantly on my 486, I was very happy indeed. Quake may have been superior technologically, but Duke 3D was the better game for multiple reasons. Can't believe both are 30 years old.

As heat waves intensify, remember that the first job of a data centre, powered by hundreds of fossil fuel generators, is to keep hot GPUs, running at maximum energy+waste heat, as cool as possible. Under capitalism, useless computers get power, heat, cooling, shelter, water, before humans will

When your amp/mixer starts playing up and you decide to remove all the faders. I don't trust previous me's soldering. And the board is super clean now. My pocket hurts though as quite a bit of wick was needed. Took over an hour.
