Chrono Cross didn't work out for the same reason nobody really follows up on Cowboy Bebop. The original ended well. To continue with questionable quality for no good reason other than companies needing to make more money is foolish.

VisionQuest seems good so far. Nice that it exists to give the Wandavision trilogy a proper ending, but feels late to the party given the impending universe wipe due to hit the MCU in the near future.

Ultima Online showed the potential for MMOs while showing the huge flaw of forced PvP. Which EverQuest took and ran with. Which directly influenced World of Warcraft. Which...okay they sorta mostly lingered on that one due to development costs and a shifting market.
