The Strip is just so saturated with tourists for most of the day and night, everything is overpriced, it’s so much walking to get around, and summertime is still brutal (tho you can just transit through the casinos instead of on the Strip sidewalk proper). I avoid it if I can help it.

I totally get it. The Las Vegas of today is most different from 25 years ago, or even 10 years ago. Last time I went, I stayed off-Strip and rented a car. A much better experience. The Las Vegas Valley is so much more than the Strip between Sahara and 215.

I'd only heard about it from an NPR article about it. I took one listen and went "I can understand how this can be popular, but this is a SAD country ballad, and it's not really my thing". I know the lore, but this song just not as ubiquitous as Rolling Stone thinks.
