Working on #cleflang tooling that might look a bit familiar to #fsharp UoM fans and Ada and VHDL devs too. Getting dimensional type inference to work in the Native Type Universe was a fun challenge.

🤔 "Why are you so focused on low-level memory operations in a functional language?" Here's the thing: We're not abandoning high-level abstractions. We're making them work everywhere 🎯 The path is more direct than you might think 👇 speakez.tech/blog/beyond-... #FunctionalProgramming #FSharp

Having some #fsharp fun building Alloy's shadow API! 🎭 These look like System/Core calls but they're statically resolved to our dependency-free implementations. Same familiar F# idioms, zero BCL dependencies. It's like BCL cosplay for native compilation! 🚀 #dotnet

🍰 #fsharp don't sleep on FSharp.UMX. It's a one-pager library that changes everything. Having non-numeric units of measure is one of those things that once you see it, you can't un-see it. And zero-cost abstractions are the icing on the cake.

This is a bit of #fsharp fun that leans a bit into #javascript - trying to get SPA style behavior out of a lightweight MPA using FlightDeck. The key is marking up areas of the page with IDs to use the morphdom JS library to manage the page transitions.

"F# is not better for systems or embedded or game programming" To that statement, we would assiduously disagree... 😉
Firefly is a new F# compiler that lowers via MLIR and LLVM to operate natively on CPU, accelerator, Iot and other edge devices.

We're still not seeing it (yet) maybe CDN propagation to the US? One of the reasons we've made the choices over a hard fork of Fornax is to make it as sympathetic to SAFE(r) stack as we could while preserving the Hugo/Jekyll CMS-lite conventions that make them so handy. bsky.app/profile/spea...

Having more #fsharp fun with our "Systm2" platform. We're using Akka.NET actors to spawn visualization agents using data out of free-running @duckdb.org agents (for each regional data set). Some rough edges to smooth out, like adding some nuance/labeling to tooltips, but it's really coming together.

Putting together an #eventsourcing and #dotnet walkthrough of an app we built using Marten and #postgresql. All of the benefits of #fsharp 's DUs both for API and Event structure - with Events built from the API primitives. Then at query time "it's just Postgres" when traversing data in the store.
Example of discriminated unions informing message and event structure in F# with MartenPostgres query traversing objects in the store to retrieve and aggregate data.Example of the mt_events "type" column as a handy reference for first-level of event inspection across streams without having to parse data objects.Example of Marten used to build an IReadOnlyList from events to return the last data policy choice in a given stream

Got this #fsharp based #AI feature mostly ironed out. There are several methods to select an Industry/Subindustry: 1) scroll the full list in the selection drop-down, 2) Sector selection using the avatars, 3) sub-string filtering (upper input field) and 4) semantic search - which is the focus here.
000
Braidpoint @braidpoint.bsky.social · 31/12/2024
Working on the #fsharp and #react implementation for the semantic search feature and it's turning out well. I'm bringing back the "top 3" and then rebuilding the hierarchy on that subset for full breadcrumb paths in case the user wants to select one of the upper levels in the hierarchy. #Elmish
Result of cosine similarity query in Postgres returning the "shortest" distance (limit 3) - input was "Medication and Prescription Dispensaries"Result of re-bread-crumb-ing the three return results from the "ProcessSemanticSearch" call. Breadcrumbs are rebuilt in the UI/Elmish model.Another example using "Police Benevolent Association" as sample text

Braidpoint @braidpoint.bsky.social · 28/12/2024
Having some #fsharp fun with a semantic search feature using "just #postgres". This is a quick sanity check to verify that cosine similarity will get the job done. Using the pgvector extension and a special index on the vector column returns results in a blink (although the table only has 206 rows).

The filteredOptions is what creates the update to the available element listed in the selection menu based on the partial match in that field. We also use that with the avatars along the top of the entry field, such that clicking on those sub-selects for a given sector.

Braidpoint @braidpoint.bsky.social · 16/12/2024
Once the data is in the store we pull it up into a structure that allows us to display the Sector, then Sector > IndustryGroup, etc so the full hierarchy is exposed "from the top down" in the selection menu.

Then we inserted this CSV data into our Postgres database to use as a baseline for creating the "breadcrumb" visual representation of each code.

We then added some categorical elements that are not in the standard taxonomy to cover non-profit, NGO and public sector categories. We didn't put descriptions of go to the Sub-Industry level.
