The amount of entitlement contained in people who have hereditary wealth never ceases to amaze me. Instead of helping those around them, or helping to better the world for everyone, they spend their energy thinking of new ways to hold on to what they have, and not share anything new that they gain.

Why do people do this? Unemployment sucks whether you’re a lifelong “unskilled” laborer (don’t get me started on “unskilled”) or a highly trained technical expert. Getting laid off or fired is terrifying, whether you’re one missed payday from being unhoused, or you have a cushion to live on (1/2)

Stupidest way I hurt myself? I fell upward and out of a swimming pool once. Landed on my face on the concrete and skidded two feet scraping all the skin off my forehead, chin, and upper lip, somehow missing the tip of my nose.

This. White people seem to think, since fashion and science have changed so much since slavery was outlawed, its ancient history. There were formerly enslaved people still alive when I was born. And I’m only middle aged. There were kids in my school whose grandparents were born into slavery.
