hoo boy, have i got a book for y'all (out in 9ish months?); lots of radio recordings of both (& much else) starting in early '30s, earliest audience "tapers" for opera were 1900ish (on cylinder), jazz in late '30s (straight to disc).

lambchop take nyc ultra-mega-quietly at public records. love love love the choir on the new "punching the clown" but right devastating to hear as stark vocal/acoustic duo with andrew broder, plus a few newer tunes in encore. public records undefeated for excellent listening but difficult viewing.
