1/🧵 I'm about #BOUasm26 today discussing how species traits (temperature niche position, habitat selectivity, urban association) shape avian populations. In my study system in North Carolina, we've been monitoring bird populations with a mini breeding bird survey since 1999. #ornithology #Ecology
The three questions I will address are: 1. How are bird populations changing in this landscape? 2. How are species responding to urbanization in the short and long term? 3. Is this landscape-population change relationship shaped by species traits?

#BOUasm26 MJE1/6 To me, an amateur in #ornithology, recent #citizenscience data seems to scream out #climatechange — e.g. migrant first-arrival advancement I studied when compiling county bird reports. Advancement, yes, but it’s not keeping pace with spring #phenology at the breeding grounds.
