I kind of understand what you're getting at because I can't personally find enjoyment in depictions of people in distress. I do highly suggest looking into the psychology of why we as a species seek out this type of media though. It is fascinating. Ologies has a good episode on it.

This is very much not true for me but I'm sure it is for you. It really makes me want to do a deep dive into researching consciousness and what factors are involved in making a core memory. Each of our brain libraries are different and we are all running with a skewed understanding of the world
