Abstract
Emerging in the early 2000s, the lolcow is a vulnerable Internet persona whose digital presence is exploited by online audiences for entertainment and pleasure. Through a case study of one such lolcow, popular TikTok creator and livestreamer Joshua Block (@WorldOfTShirts), this short essay argues that the lolcow's growing mainstream presence reflects a rise in authoritarian politics and eugenics where disabled people are openly dehumanized. Although disability as amusement object carries a long-standing history in western culture through the 'fool' and 'freak', the essay's theoretical analysis and close reading of social media artifacts suggest digital affordances and audience practices render the lolcow into a 'digital freakshow'.

This is so heartbreaking. I wouldn’t wish this on anyone. My mom (my best friend, my light and purpose) passed early this summer. It’s disorienting and painful. If it wasn’t for my friends & family just showing up, it would have been too much to handle. I am lucky. Chatbots know nothing of grief.

No matter what you think about ICE, this is sad. ICE shouldn’t have hired him in the first place (he seems to have had big impulse control issues) and wouldn’t have if they had done background checks *before* giving him a badge and a gun. Now a man is dead, and the Trump admin bears responsibility.

ICE notified Moore in late August that he was going to be fired and instructed him to come to the agency's Philadelphia office, according to two federal officials who also spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss personnel matters. ICE had identified issues in his past, the officials said, including being fired from other law enforcement agencies.
The 38-year-old father of two had fought for his job when supervisors wanted to fire him in the past.
This time, he parked his car in a lot outside the office, and he had his gun. Law enforcement officers tried to stop him, but Moore eventually shot and killed himself, according to the Philadelphia Police Department.
