A flavor of AT Protocol where the PDS is addressed using a native P2P protocol instead of HTTP

The anti-spam framing is from their proposed FAQ. Agree that it isn't an anti-spam feature in the "receiving undesired invitations" sense of the word. But, it is a deterrent for a spammer to register a large number of accounts for the purpose of spamming. Stopping the spam itself is much harder.

Assume any personal data you hand over about yourself will eventually be published to the world. Even the stuff your government requires banks to collect.

What if we just accepted that a top-level "decentralized namespace" doesn't follow the same rules as our centralized names? Is this too inconceivable for institutions like ICANN?

I know this isn't @bsky.app's "fault", but it really doesn't matter, it means I'm out. 1️⃣ I'm not going to verify on principle 2️⃣ I'm not going to run a VPN What is the best ATProto client that doesn't have this nonsense? If I can't find one I guess no more AT Proto for me.

This meme is funny, but not accurate The top picture is CLEARLY NO FOUL, you just can't tell from that camera angle. If you look at the top image from a different camera angle, not where his studs make contact with the defender's calf, but above the number 10, you can see the letters: m e s s i

That DNS dependency is look so hot right now! Who's up for fixing the root of trust with me? Rooted in a quantum resistant alg that uses cryptography (not humans and a database), and a P2P protocol for root NS lookups.

I think this is my least favorite thing about Bluesky. Someone quotes a post which starts a thread. Later on the author of the original post deletes it. Now, I have this comment about a video that I no longer can access.

The lesson in this article is simple. Do not trust ANY company to protect your private communications. The protocol itself must ensure this, and must be geographically distributed so no one legal jurisdiction can override it. This is why we should push to adopt a standard for AT Protocol DMs.
Clip of article that states:

“Public commitments to support privacy features are literally the only thing that we the public have. If they’re worthless, then why should we assume we’ll continue to have end-to-end encryption in Messenger and WhatsApp?”

honestly, I don't think there is interest in acknowledging sybils because it exposes the fact that user counts promoted by the Bsky team are sus. As recently as March 9th, Jay said there are over 40 million users, even tho the other metrics indicate growth has been flat for over a year.

One interesting thing about this screen shot is that the PDS hostname is a recognizable web site. This is key, because it means we can use Passkey to authenticate with the PDS (ie. OAuth Authorization Server) in a more human friendly way. It's 2026, time to 🗑️ the password dependency.

Fun little project to let Farcaster accounts morph into AT Protocol account. Farcaster accounts are onboarded into a PDS that only allows login via Farcaster signing keys, so no password.

Somewhere somebody must have some sense. Men must see that force begets force, hate begets hate, toughness begets toughness. And it is all a descending spiral, ultimately ending in destruction for all and everybody. Somebody must have sense enough and morality enough to cut off the chain of hate and the chain of evil in the universe. And you do that by love.

If I were in charge of AT Protocol product experience, this is the onboarding i'd want.

chrisb @boscolo.co · 14/01/2026
These time limitations are unnecessary when installing an AT Protocol mobile app. It creates unneeded friction and anxiety for users. Real world example: Alaska Air app recently switched to OAuth. In line, I open the app to board, and instead of a QR, I see an auth prompt. Completely unnecessary.

I also thought it was a little "off-brand" for Moxie to use Google for login. But, it's worth pointing out that that according to the description, confer_to uses end-to-end encryption with your Passkey-derived key being one of those ends, so evil Google can't see your content even if they try to.

@ handle, ✅ Internet Handle, 🚫 The fact that AT needs a PDS and OAuth to login to an app makes the AT Handle the opposite of "an identity solution that actually works". Soon everyone will have a private key in their pocket, forcing these users to ask a web host for identity is Flintstone-era tech.
