I'm starting to write more reviews of smaller titles on Steam. 1. Reviews are very helpful for developers and players alike. 2. It's a nice way to cap off a fun time with a game. So not only do I recommend Babushka's Glitch Dungeon, but I also recommend writing reviews of indie games you enjoyed!

Review: First of all, it works just fine on Steam Deck! I played most of it that way.

A great game for people who like charming, weird little worlds and are up for a "Metroidvania lite" that invokes unusual mechanics versus the typical double jump, etc. The glitchy, witchy theme is on point - I was never quite sure if I was solving the puzzles in this game the "intended" way or not. It's a breath of fresh air, to be honest. Or is it a breath of moldy spores? (That's a joke you'll understand once you play the game.)

I thoroughly enjoyed my time with Babushka. Maybe some day I'll come back and visit her to see how she and her animals are doing.

Just a small update to my game's logo and capsule images (giving them more breathing room, replacing old cube with a mouse that's in the game now) resulted in significant uptick in my daily wishlist gain. GBA-era pixel art was exceptional in many cases. With high-fidelity display that wouldn't blur things like CRT the artists had more room for detail. The greater capability to display color art in (relatively) high resolution gave the art a place to shine. GBA launched 24 years ago. Still impresses.

I wanted to make a joke about it, but I think this actually is a serious issue. Game like A Game About Digging a Hole or Powerwash Simulator, or even Cookie Clicker should come with a trigger warning. Games like this trigger my ADHD/OCD subroutines and I become a slave to the game until completion.

Five years ago to the day ELDERBORN launched in full on Steam. The game was prematurely shoved into Early Access by a publisher with whom Hyperstrange split before the full release. When I was leaving the Head of Publishing position at Hyperstrange last year, ELDERBORN was at 300 000+ copies sold.

Somehow @steampowered.com always manages to bend the rules for the best-selling titles, resulting in Stellaris being featured in RTS Fest, because grand 4x strategy is close enough to real-time strategy. Oh, I assure you - there's a lot of inherently BAD ideas out there. It's better to pay them no mind and try to come up with a good idea, rather than funnel your creative power into salvaging something that was never viable in the first place. Time is finite for us, choices matter.

Some conclusions after the first playtest of my Snake in the Dark * Friends will tell you they like your game not really playing it - out of 30 playtesters 22 launched the game, but only 6 people got to level 4 (2 first levels are tutorial levels)

Well, of course Snake in the Dark has yellow paint... sort of. Improving the tutorial readability I wanted to stick to non-verbal communication. I thought ideogram tool tips would do the job best, and while the game is mostly monochrome I thought "hey, yellow would stand out nicely!" #yellowpaint

I didn't love the game itself, but The Ascent OST is some of the best electro/cyberpunk/ambient music I've heard. It's on par of Jasper Kydd's Borderlands pieces, and mixes seamlessly with Daft Punk's TRON OST.
