there can be no competitive advantage in using a public AI model. your competitors can access it as easily as you. therefore any task that can be done by the model is non-value-added and is a candidate for elimination from the business process.

if i were a frontier AI company, i wouldn't simply use it to create and sell countless incredible and profitable innovations and products, which it can definitely do. i would instead sell subscriptions to cubicle dwellers, at an enormous loss.

much of the software industry already is a continuation of Enclosure. not just at the personal level: vendor lock-in is rent-seeking on internal business processes. this AI push is a major escalation. even the limited choices you can currently make are going to be sold out from under you.
