For old times' sake, let us celebrate the Greens' poll results in accordance with the conservative rightwing tradition of Posting Hot Photos Of Me, Specifically
Me, a fat white brunette woman, in very pretty lilac and black strappy lingerie, striking a fabulous pose balanced on one knee and one hand, looking up at the ceiling with the other hand outstretched. A new one for Leo Molloy's weird attempted kompromat files because if there's one thing the right can't stand, it's a confident fat leftwing woman who gives them uncomfy feelings in their tum-tums.

The state of Israel has finally sort-of-admitted they murdered Hind Rajab and her family (but only so they can pretend to have a functioning justice system to undermine the ICC) and naturally RNZ has given this the gravity it deserves: syndicating a CNN article with full passive voice honours
Screenshot of RNZ article reading "Rajab was one of seven family members travelling in a vehicle in northern Gaza on when they came under Israeli fire. Rajab survived the initial fire and pleaded on the phone for hours with Palestinian paramedics to come rescue her. Afterwards, an ambulance dispatched to save her also came under fire.

Twelve days later, Rajab's body was found in a car riddled with bullets."

Dang it forgot to screenshot the proper thing on the Parliament website, but here you go - my submission on the *vomit* Definition of Woman And Man Bill
I make this submission on my own behalf, as a cisgender woman, a New Zealander, a public servant and a lifelong feminist. I am the mother of a daughter. I have organised rallies against rape culture and worked in the office of Jan Logie MP during her term as Under-Secretary to the Minister of Justice on Domestic and Sexual Violence Issues.
I am unequivocally opposed to this Bill and appalled that it has proceeded to Select Committee.
It is a nonsensical solution to a problem that does not exist. It flies in the face of common sense, basic justice, and biological reality.
Far better qualified people than me have made submissions pointing out the ways in which this Bill is poorly drafted, legally unsound, scientifically bankrupt, and yet paradoxically represents a genuine threat to the health, safety and wellbeing of trans people, nonbinary people, intersex people, and all girls and women – cis or trans. I tautoko them.
I am driven to make this submission because the promoters of this Bill purport to represent me. They assert that their motivations are the safety and hypothetical sporting ambitions of my daughter. And I will not have this be done in my name, or hers.Trans women as a group present no threat to me, or my identity (or my child). Acknowledging that trans women are women (or that some people who were assigned female at birth are actually men!) takes nothing away from me as a woman or a mother. My identity – the reality of my womanhood – is not so fragile it can be shattered by the existence of women with difference life experiences or biochemistry to mine, nor so simple it can be confined within the walls of my uterus.
It is beyond disappointing to see this Bill progress to Select Committee, because it is so evidently an incoherent, illogical, ideological artifact, the only material outcome of which is to further marginalize and expose trans people to harassment and discrimination. The Committee may redeem our Parliament somewhat by rejecting it in full, and making a clear statement of support for the biological reality that sex and gender are really complicated, and we’re all just trying to live our lives, and those fortunate few who think the biggest issue of our time is “what cubicle is that complete stranger doing a wee in?” may count themselves lucky and maybe consider getting a hobby.

Timely reminder that Ani O'Brien never cared about women's sports, didn't support abortion law reform, and does not give a single shit about challenging homophobia. She's a conservative mouthpiece whose only value to her allies is ticking some identity boxes to launder their bigotry. ~fin~

Hell YES Radio New Zealand promoting transphobia again, woooooooooo national broadcaster undefeated for trash takes 🎉
A screenshot promoting RNZ's Saturday Mornings show, with an interview with Hilary Cass, horrible disingenuous transphobe, except for some reason they describe it as:

"New prescriptions for puberty blockers were to be banned by the Government just before Christmas, but an urgent High Court injunction has called a halt to the new regulations and a judicial review is set down for May.

The findings of an independent report and subsequent major clinical trial in the UK prompted the Health Minister Simeon Brown to press pause on the medications for new patients with gender dysphoria.

The four-year Cass Review, carried out for NHS England recommends limiting the use of puberty blockers to research settings. It also urges unhurried holistic care, caution around irreversible treatments, and the recognition of complex factors such as mental health, neurodiversity and social media as possible contributors to the rise in young people questioning their gender.

Baroness Dr Hilary Cass joins Susie live from the UK."

And this bit, THIS FUCKING BIT of their response. When they say "first-hand perspectives", when they say "people directly involved" deserve a platform, who do they consider first-hand? Not the dead trans kid! Fuck no! But their bigoted parents represented by a political lobby group? Hell yeah!
"We do, however, in considering the Media Council's decision, disagree with their finding on balance and fairness. RNZ interviewed people who had direct relationships with Alex. Those were their stories to tell. It sends an alarming message to newsrooms if they are expected to balance first-hand perspectives from people directly involved in a story and information contained in verified documentation with second-hand sources."

I support the much more detailed submissions of Dr Jane Kelsey and Dr Ganesh Rajaram Ahirao, and urge the Select Committee to listen to them and other experts who are able to address the technicalities, context and potential harms of this Bill.
