I'm starting the work of spinning Sports out of @boostblue.bsky.social, and part of that is coming up with a name for the new dedicated sports app. Anyone have suggestions?

Low data probably wouldn't limit pictures or content, but maybe limit how often I run background fetches and such.

Boost Blue @boostblue.bsky.social · 02/10/2026

Either could inflate data usage. But I'll do an investigation into how much data the app is using, and make sure I'm not over fetching. I could also add a low-data mode potentially, but it would likely result in losing some of that automatic behavior.

I'm glad you are enjoying the app!! 😁 I'm not sure about Mona, but Boost re-pulls every post back to your unread position when you open the app, both to get new posts and update engagement counts ofc ached posts. Then it re-pulls new posts every minute to update the engagement count.

Thanks for the feedback, I've saved all these posts and will work through the suggestions in the new few weeks. Question on the content filters: those should respect your Bluesky content preferences, is the app filtering NSFW content that Bluesky isn't?

The last update just made it scrollable as a quick fix to be semi-usable, since the new alt text editor was completely broken on iPad. I'm going to rework the entire UX there for iPad, but I won't have time until next week. That will include keyboard awareness for how much space is allocated!!

Ohhh. Sorry, with Liquid Glass enabled this is a bit more confusing. Sorry about that! I'm glad you got it figured out!

This button, on the Home page.

Tap the hamburger menu in the top right (three lines on top of each other), that should open a side drawer, from which you can tap settings!

Does anyone have any connections at Apple? Both @getskyscraper.com and @heron.social are getting App Store rejections for being copycats. The way this is being applied essentially bans 3rd party clients, which I doubt is intentional.

This version also includes a highly requested rework of the Alt Text composer, as well as several additions to bring us closer to feature parity: • Edit Profile • Feeds tab on Profiles • Lists tab on Profiles • Starter Packs tab on Profiles • Full starter pack support

v3.30.0 of Boost Blue is live! Starting with the fun stuff: You can now customize the look of posts with square avatars and a range of name layout options.

Boost Blue @boostblue.bsky.social · 28/09/2026

Also on my list - probably in the version after tomorrow's release!

It's actually been there for a long time 😅 I decided to start posting tips about lesser known features because I figured a good amount of my users don't know about them. It sounds like that was indeed a good idea 😄

I'll add it, thanks I didn't realize this was missing!

Thank you!!! The library I reference in the blog post did most of the work.

Liquid Glass is already in the app! You can turn it on in Settings.

Thank you! I'm always really nervous to change the UI at all, so it's really reassuring to hear someone likes something I've done.

This was included in a release last week!

Ahh, okay. On it! Sorry I'm less familiar with Android so I miss these kinds of things on occasion.

I think the double back issue should be fixed in the latest update, the other two are on the roadmap!

100

Boost Blue @boostblue.bsky.social · 22/09/2026

This should be fixed in the latest version:

Boost Blue @boostblue.bsky.social · 22/09/2026

I think I found the cause here, should be fixed in today's update!

010

Boost Blue @boostblue.bsky.social · 22/09/2026

The video issue should be fixed in the latest version! I also misspoke earlier *this* version has the back-button closing-the-app fix.

000

Boost Blue @boostblue.bsky.social · 22/09/2026

It also fixes several bugs: - Fixes feed page refresh button showing incorrectly - Prevents ack button on Android closing app - Fixed ")" symbols being marked as part of a link - Keeps the app alive while watching a video on Android - Added a Bluesky outage banner on app startup

Boost Blue @boostblue.bsky.social · 22/09/2026

v3.28.1 is live! This version adds thread count badges matching the official app, and a "Hide Quote Posts" option!

So this might be fixed as of 3.28.1. I fixed the back-button-closes-the-app issue, which from what you are saying should help. Let me know if that's not the case!

100

Boost Blue @boostblue.bsky.social · 21/09/2026

I've been trying to figure out how this happened, and I've got nothing. Has it occurred again?

100

Boost Blue @boostblue.bsky.social · 21/09/2026

How often is this happening for you? Bluesky OAuth is pretty fragile right now generally, if you sign in with an App Password you shouldn't have to re-auth.

100

Boost Blue @boostblue.bsky.social · 21/09/2026

So I looked a bit more into this - is Boost Blue behaving differently than the official app? Or are they both showing the content warning based on the Bluesky Moderation Service?

100

Boost Blue @boostblue.bsky.social · 21/09/2026

There is! It's under Settings > Navigation > Hide Bottom Bar on Scroll!

Which border style do you like better? A is a standard border. B has a slight fade into the card. Borders around cards aren't standard on iOS, so I wanted to see if something semi-neumorphic would work better with Apple's design language. 1️⃣ Border A 2️⃣ Border B 📊 Show results

How long have you let it sit? I'm trying to figure out if something is failing outright, or just taking a very long time.
