Semiotic Standard icons designed by Ron Cobb for the USCSS Nostromo in Alien (1979). They're everywhere in the USCSS Maginot from Alien Earth (2025).
A chart titled "Semiotic Standard" showing a collection of futuristic safety and system symbols designed for spacecraft. Each symbol is inside a square with red, black, white, gray, yellow, blue, or green coloring, and labeled with meanings such as “Pressurized Area,” “Cryogenic Vault,” “Airlock,” “Hazard/Warning,” “Exhaust,” “Radiation Hazard,” “High Radioactivity,” “Refrigeration,” “Direction,” and “Life Support System.” A legend at the bottom explains the color codes: red for visible/solid/alive/abnormal, white and grey for life-supporting conditions, black for vacuum and danger, yellow for harmful atomic/chemical processes, blue for lowered thermal condition, and green for biological substances. The chart is signed “R. Cobb.”

Warned everyone here about rising cost of building a computer last year. Consider buying a computer soon. It is looking real bleak. RAM, NVME SSDs, HDDs, CPUs, GPUs through the roof. Price floor will not come back down. Industry has shifted away from consumers. Don't bet on a collapse.

Apparently my work hired a proclaimed fascist. I am going to make his work life miserable. It's my obligation. We work with humans by helping them, not hating them, so he is not really a fit.

My union is embracing AI for my profession now. I'm working class. I'm livid. And leaving my union, who doesn't seem to understand how destructive AI already is and increasingly will be for humanity. What times we live in!

As a huge Stevie Wonder fan all my life, it truly sucked to not be able to get one of the 19000 tickets, because I was five seconds late to get in line. I am not able to pay €500 which were the only available tickets at that point. In Paris, 9 million people was in line for Celine Dion. Fucked!

I’ve now lived so much longer than I would ever have expected to that I feel I’m living in the future. This is when I imagined Neuromancer happening. And now the creators of today’s AI warn us that it threatens humanity.

It's known that outsourcing your thinking and increasingly relying on LLMs to make decisions, is going to lead to lower intellectual capacity in the future. We could call it "assisted thinking".

A stellar cluster deep in the heart of the Milky Way. A real image from JWST, it looks like a matte painting from a sci-fi film.
Swirls of dust and gas in shades of blue and red, with brighter groups of stars glowing orange, form a tapestry of light and dark. The black polygon at the lower right is missing data from the scene.

PSA on vinyl archival safety IF THE SLEEVE SMELLS LIKE A BEACH BALL, put it in a new sleeve! Store original sleeve far away from your records. Labels are still packaging releases in PVC, that de-gas into the vinyl when its hot. Had my entire Analord set ruined like this. Take care of your records
These thick beach ball smelling sleeves should be illegal.

Telling humanity that we need drop everything to get "better [A]Intelligence" while world leaders, business leaders, local leaders, middle managers keep ignoring real and available human intelligence, that offer better solutions for the planet, societies and people, is the definition of insanity.

Brutal record morning. All my near mint Analord 12"s have taken damage from the binder sleeves degassing into the vinyl, despite being in separate sleeves inside the PVC binder sleeves. Looks like streaks of milky vapour. It is "welded" into the records now. Took ten years and a heatwave.

In Denmark we had some pretty simple electronic music in 1989. Wasn't very old. Thought it was really hard 😂Didn't exactly shake my world like Jeff Mills did later. Just an early memory of strange local electronic music. www.youtube.com/watch?v=BJkH...
