I am probably the only person who wrote online about the Flash Foster story from Young Men #22 this month. I give you my personal guarantee that that is probably true: www.bookofpdr.com/2026/09/25/y...
A splash page from a comic titled "Flash Foster and his High-Gear Hot-Shots!" If shows a young teenager racing a yellow hot rod down a track with other cars coming up behind him as his friends watch from the sides. With a "BANG!" one of his tires is bursting.

I've always had an interest in the comic books era between WW2 and the '60s, when superheroes were out of fashion and other genres had room to grow. It didn't always work out for the best. Here's a look at the first Flash Foster and his High-Gear Hot-Shots story. www.bookofpdr.com/2026/08/22/y...

I somehow got more worked up than usual doing this Superman vs Bigots article, but I got there in the end. bsky.app/profile/the-...
Three panels from a Superman comic from 1941.

Panel One: Superman leaps as he carries a screaming man in a Nazi-like military uniform.

Superman: Why not display some of that Dukalian courage you did so much raving about?

Panel Two: Superman leaps away, leaving the Nazi hanging from the top of a flagpole.

Nazi: You can't leave me here!

Superman: Don't like it there, eh? Well, you're free to let go ay time you want!

Panel Three: The Nazi clings desperately to the flagpole as he calls down to his Nazi underlings.

Nazi: Get me down! Hurry!!

Panel Two: The two people continue looking up, with no hint of fear or terror.

Person 1: I know it's Cthulhu because of the tentacles.

Person 2: And the little wings.

Person 1: Mhm. The wings.

Panel Three: They continue looking up at now-dejected looking Cthulhu.

Person 2: That's him for sure.

A comic strip titled: "The Malevolent Meanheart"

It has two characters. Meanheart is a big figure in a purple cloak with claws and his head is a floating red face. Henchley is a a diminutive green sidekick type.

Panel One:

Meanheart: Henchley! I have a new scheme to destroy those bothersome do-gooders!

Henchley: Yes, your creepiness?

Panel Two:

Meanheart: We shall pose as pumbers and gain access to their homes!

Henchley: Yes, O Foul One.

Panel Three:

Meanheart: Of course, we shall plumb nothing! Instead we shall install a wide variety of tricks and traps!

Henchley: Of course, my Deplorable Master. Your vile bidding shall be done.

Panel Four:

Meanheart: Look, I already apologized for forgetting your birthday. All this namecalling is petty and frankly unprofessional.

2022: Planet Gurx www.bookofpdr.com/tag/gurx/ I very much enjoyed doing a sort of speculative alien biology thing fleshing out the planet Gurx, homeworld of the Strondovarians.
A drawing of a landscape on an alien world. In the foreground a little squirrel-like alien sits upright on a hill as little alien bugs walk around it. Past the hill there is a vast field of purple grass with some sort of megafauna grazing, sort of like an elephant with a shell on its back. Pete: Just so you know, I will be out of town for a while. I got a new job!

Pete: I figure they probably meant my nude modelling.

2013: Physical Comedy Award www.bookofpdr.com/2013/02/11/f... Here's a comic I did in 2013.
A sketchy six-panel comic depicting the stage at an award show and some stairs lead up to the stage. The characters are just barely above stick-figure level. The audience can kust be seen.

Panel 1: The presenter is holding a little trophy and a little card that he opened.

Presenter: And the Physical Comedy award for "Best Funny Injuries" goes to... Bobby Bongus!

Panel 2: A larger figure starts coming up the stairs.

Presenter: Come on up here, Bobby!

Audience: (applause)

Panel 3: Bobby trips on the stairs and falls onto the stage.

Bobby: whoops!

SFX: SLAM!

Audience: (laughter)

Panel 4: The presenter and the audience react with glee to Bobby's fall. Bobby doesn't move.

Presenter: Haha!

Audience: (laughter)

Panel 5: Bobby remains unmoving and blood begins to leak out from his head.

Presenter: Bobby?

Panel 6: A safe falls from above and lands on the presenter.

SFX: CRUNCH!

Pete: Hey Jeremy, It's Pete.

Jeremy: What's up, man?

Pete: Is your mom still single? I met a guy who would be perfect for her.

Jeremy: I don't think she would be interested. She's still sore with you because of the time you set her up with that guy you said was an animal doctor who turned out to be a Nazi war criminal.

Pete: Hey, I never said he was an animal doctor. I told her that he was a veteran Aryan.

2009: Adventure Dennis www.bookofpdr.com/comics/adven... This was the year I started putting my Adventure Dennis comics on the Book of PDR, starting with Level VI, the ice level. Adventure Dennis, for all its flaws, is one of my most complete and self-contained projects to this day.
A page of a webcomic called Adventure Dennis consisting of three panels trying to look like a 2D platform game, but done in MS Paint (and to this day PDR regrets it wasn't done in a more pixel art-looking style).

Panel 1: Adventure Dennis, wearing green pants and a black headband but no shirt and holding a blood-covered sword, runs into a snowy landscape.

Title: LEVEL VI

Caption: ON TOP OF THE MOUNTAIN IS THE ICE LEVEL!

Panel 2: Dennis runs further to the right and encounters an orange beast with hooves and horns that may have been inspired by the demons from Doom.

Caption: OH NO! A TERRIBLE DEMONIAC COW!

Panel 3: Dennis stabs the beast in the face with his sword.

Caption: ADVENTURE DENNIS WILL SOLVE IT.

2006: If I Had Four Arms www.bookofpdr.com/2006/05/28/i... a poem
A screenshot from bookofpdr.com that shows a poem.

Title: If I Had Four Arms
(Sunday 28th May 2006 @ 5:31 PM)

If I had four arms,
I would wear a glove on one.
That would be my glove arm
and I would call it number one.

If I had four arms,
On one I’d keep a shoe
in case I ever lost a leg.
That would be arm two.

If I had four arms,
On one a duck would be.
He’d keep me out of trouble,
from there on number three.

If I had four arms,
I’d cut the fourth one off.
As nearly as I can tell
Three arms would be enough.
