Tremors is so well-composed and aesthetically sound that it, by comparison, "makes The Last Supper look like a piece of shit," raves one critic 😹 #FilmSky 🎥 #MovieSky 🎞️

There are totally #homoerotic vibes/overtones to a lot of Earl & Val's interactions onscreen, some of which are (maybe) in the #script, but most of which are prob filmic augmentations. Fair to say #KevinBacon has strong #Bi energy? Idk about his personal life, but just his aura 🔮 #FilmSky #Tremors

I'd argue most of what makes Earl and Val work best as a team comes from the interpretation between what's on the page and what we see in the finish product. That's unusual. I usually am all about the 'script/writing is the heart of it' or whatever, but I'm finding a little differently on this watch!

That's, of course, why we do these! If anything, I'm appreciating the actors' interpretations and the direction even more than usual. By the way, the script is still incredible, it's just not the sole source of all the genius and inspiration in this film, the way I usually feel scripts are.

BECAUSE IT'S A PERFECT FILM! EVERYTHING ABOUT IT WORKS! I keep telling you, man, I don't know why you're making me scream at you like that.

Fred Ward is also perfect. I'm 1000% aware btw (how dare you) that the town is called Perfection all of that, and... they called their shot, man! They put it in our heads, and if Tremors were a decent or bad movie, we'd hate it that they name-dropped Perfection in the film 180 times, but... it's a PERFECT FILM. So why WOULDN'T the town be named Perfection?

BULLETPROOF!

Sorry for getting worked up. That was an ad that snuck into our screenshot a moment ago, but what can you do, we're moving fast here and breaking stuff, folks. And stealing stuff!

Even though Tremors is the kind of commercial art I'm happiest to endorse with my pocketbook, and I've bought several physical-media copies of Tremors in various formats over the years, here I am at Panera, stealing it... and fighting pop ups.

Time is a flat circle, especially for me.

This little pantomime takes maybe three or four total seconds, but it says so much, and works so well, and it's very worth noting how much MORE of what this is there is on the screen than on the page. How transformative the filmmaking process proves to be for the script, even though it's super faithful to the script, and is only making interpretive improvements.

By sheer luck, I am tied up doing other #ReelRank content business for the next day or two, which means that you have exactly that long to sneak in some #Bestof2024 picks before I publish our aggregated results. I think with a Gmail, it's one-click. Then go to: reelrank.net/giveaward #FilmSky 🎥

It'll look like this if you're at the right screen! Super easy to navigate to, and then moderately easy to figure out once you're there. You have to click 'give award' and then go over and search for the film in the right-hand search box.

This is so cool to me, bc unlike 98% of #movies, this ISN'T a story about a dude making moves and getting what he wants; it's a story about a lady making moves and getting what SHE wants, told from the perspective of the dude she wants. That's frankly progressive 🤓 #FilmSky 📽️ #TheThirteenthFloor 🧵

Turns out, this whole movie was about her plan and her wants, and now she gets the dude. Whom she wanted. It works, and it's different than what you usually see.
