Sarah Olson @boldhorsebehavior.bsky.social · 03/03/2025Not all horses will eat it, and I'd definitely be careful with the dosage. But you also only use it certain times of the year (in my area it's like maybe 4 months and that's it) 010
Sarah Olson @boldhorsebehavior.bsky.social · 03/03/2025I fed Alula a garlic based fly repellent since she's not a picky eater, and I noticed fewer flies bothering her than the other horses. There is some validity to it, but definitely most effective if everyone is on it! 110

Sarah Olson @boldhorsebehavior.bsky.social · 22/02/2025Just a friendly reminder, that the right wing men are currently fantasizing about hanging female politicians they don't agree with. This is why Trump's America is dangerous. 031
Sarah Olson @boldhorsebehavior.bsky.social · 22/02/2025So cool :) I got to see the grand canyon once, when I was 16. It was so mind-blowing. The bison is incredible, I didn't even know they could be white! 120
Sarah Olson @boldhorsebehavior.bsky.social · 19/02/2025My horse once targeted a ground wasp nest. Chaos ensued. We worked a lot harder on stimulus control after that lol 140
Sarah Olson @boldhorsebehavior.bsky.social · 17/02/2025I'm convinced the only reason it still exists is because of betting. That shit goes, racing is immediately over. There's no point otherwise. 020
Sarah Olson @boldhorsebehavior.bsky.social · 16/02/2025Absolutely! I am also neurodivergent, and how clothes feel is extremely important to me or I get very stressed. I've always had sensory issues with clothes and women's clothes are especially awful for some reason. The fabric and cut are never right. 010
Sarah Olson @boldhorsebehavior.bsky.social · 16/02/2025Me shopping in the women's section: I hate my body, I hate fashion, nothing fits me, too expensive, crippling despair Me shopping in the men's section: everything fits me, I am incredibly hot, I can afford everything, gender euphoria #androgynous #nonbinary #genderqueer 190
Sarah Olson @boldhorsebehavior.bsky.social · 16/02/2025If you aren't talking about the attack on trans people right now, you need to open your eyes and start caring. For those of us who are queer and have trans people in our lives we love, we are angry and horrified and scared. 193
Sarah Olson @boldhorsebehavior.bsky.social · 15/02/2025New profile picture! I got my septum re-pierced today 😜 unfortunately the first time I got it done years ago, they messed it up...I had to wait for it to heal over and get it redone. It was much easier this time around! 030
Sarah Olson @boldhorsebehavior.bsky.social · 13/02/2025Don't let the anxiety and fear of the current state of the world stop you from creating and dreaming and loving. The world needs your art, your kindness, your work, your love, more than ever. 0113
Sarah Olson @boldhorsebehavior.bsky.social · 13/02/2025The way my heart stopped before I saw this was The Onion 🤦🏼♀️ we are too damn close to this reality 010
Sarah Olson @boldhorsebehavior.bsky.social · 13/02/2025Geez. And I thought Musk was pro family - what about all the parents and kids that receive government aid? This is so strange and disturbing. 100
Sarah Olson @boldhorsebehavior.bsky.social · 12/02/2025Respect our existence or expect our resistance 💪🏼 070
Sarah Olson @boldhorsebehavior.bsky.social · 12/02/2025Friendly reminder that trans people are only around 1% of the population. Trans people aren't a threat to you. But billionaires sure are 🖤 080
Sarah Olson @boldhorsebehavior.bsky.social · 11/02/2025I haven't read that one yet! I've read and written a lot about the conservative perspective (I grew up right wing Evangelica) but there are still certain things that blow my mind. I get it, but I also don't get it, you know? 110
Sarah Olson @boldhorsebehavior.bsky.social · 11/02/2025That's what's so ironic about it though! Lol 030
Sarah Olson @boldhorsebehavior.bsky.social · 11/02/2025I think you are spot on with this. Thanks for sharing your experience too. 010
Sarah Olson @boldhorsebehavior.bsky.social · 11/02/2025I'm really trying to genuinely understand, for the purpose of empathy, how there are conservatives who are against abortion and vaccines but who will pinch (abort) foals and vaccinate their show horse. 3100
Sarah Olson @boldhorsebehavior.bsky.social · 11/02/2025Humans - and animals - are so brave and kind and capable of extraordinary things. I spend my time encouraging people to train animals with science-based methods that support their consent and autonomy, and I wish everyone could experience this beauty and connection and joy. 050

Sarah Olson @boldhorsebehavior.bsky.social · 08/02/2025Our greatest form of resistance is to stand strong in ourselves. Be an ally to trans people. Protect them. Protect the environment. Keep fighting for human rights. Protect immigrants. Stand with Black people. With women. Be kind to animals. Advocate for science. Love, and love, and love, and love. 061
Sarah Olson @boldhorsebehavior.bsky.social · 08/02/2025In the animal world, people draw on flawed/disproven science to support harsh training methods. They let the ideology of human superiority cloud their judgment. Likewise, our government will do the same to advance their notion of white male supremacy and Christian nationalism - with violence. 141
Sarah Olson @boldhorsebehavior.bsky.social · 08/02/2025They will deny and manipulate science to justify acts of intolerance and hatred and violence. But you can stand by the facts - you have science on your side. The evidence is clear. Don't be swayed or doubt yourself. Act and behave according to what you know to be true. 120
Sarah Olson @boldhorsebehavior.bsky.social · 08/02/2025People will try to persuade you that kindness is weakness. Know in your heart that it is our greatest strength. People will say you can't be a good leader without acts of cruelty. But a good leader isn't selfish, they put first the needs of those they lead. 141
Sarah Olson @boldhorsebehavior.bsky.social · 08/02/2025Oftentimes I am the only person at a barn training with kinder, softer methods. I have learned a lot from this experience: Your choice to act with empathy towards the vulnerable in a world that celebrates force and tradition will be met with shock and resistance. Stand strong. 130
Sarah Olson @boldhorsebehavior.bsky.social · 08/02/2025As a horse trainer who promotes methods that empower the animal, and are founded in respect for their autonomy and consent, I do this work in a world that is very patriarchal. My methodology is frowned upon by people who believe horses need to be handled with force and dominance. 120
Sarah Olson @boldhorsebehavior.bsky.social · 08/02/2025We are watching as a small group of power-hungry men illegally upend the government with no regard for laws or diplomacy, to forcefully assert their ideology. Their goal, to put it frankly, is to reestablish white male supremacy & nationalism and revoke progress. 120
Sarah Olson @boldhorsebehavior.bsky.social · 08/02/2025I train animals with kindness: patient, reward-based learning that promotes their autonomy. I also live in the United States, where we are watching a coup d'état happen in real time. And I have a few thoughts to share during this dark and difficult time. 170
Sarah Olson @boldhorsebehavior.bsky.social · 06/02/2025I am struggling to post lately because frankly, I'm speechless. 4101

Sarah Olson @boldhorsebehavior.bsky.social · 04/02/2025Right now, men in power in my country are trying to erase the most vulnerable of us - trans and genderqueer people. In a world where patriarchy is upheld by violence, force, and hate, picking up my clicker and training horses with kindness and empathy is an act of protest. 1103
Reposted by Sarah Olsonツ Hunterprobss @hunterprobs.bsky.social · 02/02/2025My hot take is that dairy cow welfare is significantly better than athletic horse welfare. In dairy, stress/ pain directly decreases your milk yield (your profit). In horses, they still perform and WIN through their stress/ pain. 191
Sarah Olson @boldhorsebehavior.bsky.social · 02/02/2025For those curious: reverse round pen was set up as a boundary between them, and the handlers practiced sending their horses to and from blue cones, gradually increasing the distance between cones! 030
Sarah Olson @boldhorsebehavior.bsky.social · 02/02/2025My teen student on Alula and a friend with her horse played some clicker games together today and we had fun! 💕 1100
Sarah Olson @boldhorsebehavior.bsky.social · 02/02/2025Definitely, the dog world isn't perfect either but I feel like better training is more...normalized?? 030
Sarah Olson @boldhorsebehavior.bsky.social · 01/02/2025Horses would be better off if we thought of them like dogs. Take them for walks and let them sniff things and explore with their muzzles and whiskers You wouldn't hit your dog with a crop or kick them with spurs or put a bit in their mouth. Why do it to your horse? 3173
Sarah Olson @boldhorsebehavior.bsky.social · 01/02/2025Looking back at pictures/videos of me training baby Alula while going through chronic illness is bittersweet, my R+ skills were terrible back then (I was entirely self taught for a while) and I'm impressed we accomplished so much in spite of it! 1100
Sarah Olson @boldhorsebehavior.bsky.social · 01/02/2025R+ makes training and working with horses more accessible if you have physical limitations. R+ allowed me to safely start a feral filly while going through chronic illness, surgeries, and physical therapy. Training horses doesn't have to be forceful, physical, and unsafe. 092
