I do like using superpowers brainstorming for this. Has a very useful visual helper that pops alternate options in a browser when it helps deciding on options

I feel like we’re in the “using x-ray machines in shoe stores” phase of AI adoption.

I made the mistake of using cursor to rename a class once. Never again, took about an hour and proudly informed after that hour that 7% of my monthly tokens had been used…

I fully took 10 seconds to realise this wasn’t about sorting plastic recycling into bins and algorithms to work out when to put said bins out the front of the house. then was only slightly disappointed when I realised it in fact was, only tangentially

I think that’s good though right? But also compensated for by realising that for the things you do know, you *really do know* which is kinda cool

Six decades later, Star Trek may still be the only franchise based on the ideas that diversity is strength, justice is the measure of civilization, bounty is to be shared, peace is worth the price, and all these things can be achieved. We need more shows that look ahead and find goodness.

Finally finished my 6 weeks of travel with the keynote at the Software Architecture Gathering in Berlin. Final slide was of the great Stefan Tilkov who made such an amazing contribution to the industry and who sadly passed much to soon.

I went to a fantastic Georgian restaurant in Iaşi a couple of weeks ago - the things they did to an eggplant made me want to cry (in a good way) - same kind of crispy, honey, and almost miso like umami batter. Just lovely.

Oh thanks that’s lovely of you to say. I’ve got a new one that should be out soon on the GOTO channel about the history of microservices through my eyes. It’s quite fun! Will post it here hen it’s available

I wrote a hypermedia driven one for a conference talk about evolutionary architecture, ooo several years ago now. I made a joke about them being the gateway drug to D&D and Nygard pointed out that keeping your finger in place in case you needed to go back was the gateway drug for Version Control
