“You heal that fast?” he asked as he lifted the bottle to the top of the cuts. The most efficient way to distribute it would be to dribble it down from the top of my shoulders.

“Yes, and it’s getting hard to focus on keeping them back,” I admitted, and he quickly dropped enough in each of the eight cuts for it to slide to the bottom. I pulled my bandeau away from my back with telekinesis so the venin could get all the way down. When the antivenin started working, the wounds glowed a deep violet almost indigo. The cuts closed, and I slowly straightened.

Thank the Maker, it worked! I didn’t need another permanent injury. I gingerly rolled my shoulders then cringed as my left arm cramped. I sighed and held it with my right hand. Why was it acting up so much more now?

“Did she hurt your arm?” he asked, trying to look at it. At first, I didn’t want to show him, but remembered what the great braggart said about to letting him tend me echoed. I shook my head, but the cramp worsened, curling my fingers into claws, and my breath caught. “Hope.”

“Ma, I have to ask,” Giovanni said, before sticking a bite in his mouth at the same time I did. He chewed slow, giving himself time to rephrase what he wanted to say. He politely swallowed before continuing, “Do you have a plan to catch him?”

I chewed slower, but by the time I swallowed I still hadn’t come up with anything. It wasn’t like me to have no starting point, but I couldn’t rush into it, and I couldn’t use any agency resources, since I was technically still on leave. Damn it.

“Right now, I don’t. It has to be thought out, deliberate,” I trailed off as I thought through everything. Maalik thought I was dead, and word wouldn’t have gotten to him yet that I’d survived. I needed to take precautions. Guard against him. “First, I’ll need to cut him out of my triumvirates,” I said, making a mental list of people to get ahold of, “If I don’t, he’ll figure out that he didn’t kill me and finish the job.”

Worse yet, it was in the beginning of a “sex scene” which I find lacking… 😅 so, yeah… I like the book overall. I’m at 53% in, but having so many “ands” in a sentence makes them feel like speed bumps.

I don’t normally point out grammar mistakes in books, but if you’re a “NYT best selling author” and I come across a SINGLE SENTENCE with 12 “ands”, a comma splice, an em dash –like this– AND a bit of dialogue in your book, I’m going to screenshot it as a reminder to myself. #WriteSky #Ouch

I despise run on sentences. I understand the need for a good long sentence with varying conjunctions and even a good comma splice, but periods are needed. Please, for the love of all things holy, ask someone who knows grammar to read your books before publication and TAKE THEIR ADVISE. #Writesky

Day 2 of having the splint on: I hate using crutches. My body aches in ways it doesn't usually because I haven't had to use them in years. And my knee isn't happy either... I will say it again: I would rather break an arm than a leg. I have completed some cute #chibi #commissions today though!

The klutz strikes again! Was leaving the GI docs (normal follow up, no longer have to do that. Yay!) walked off the curb to go to my car, and rolled my right ankle. I sat there for a couple minutes then limped to my car and drove home but pain is awful, weird sensations, twitchy muscles…

The clouds rushing to blanket the sky as twilight fades to dawn. There is a very distinct line where the clouds end and the blue starry sky meets and it looks like an ocean or AI, it’s not. nature is gorgeous!

Same thing, less clouds, and the wires in the way, but hey, proves it ain’t an AI image right?

“It was so bad that you have to tell me via voice?” Chaos asked as soon as we were connected. I rolled my shoulders and set my elbows on the desk.
“No, there’s just more that needs to be said, and something I’m going to leave out,” I prefaced, not wanting to go over the embarrassing bits.
“That’s not fair,” Chaos interjected, and I heaved a sigh. It really wasn’t fair to leave anything out, since she’d told me everything about her soulmate over voice one night while her crew were asleep. Except for the sensitive, personal details, like genitalia size, duration of sexcapades, and anything she learned about his past. Plus, what was said to Chaos stayed with Chaos. It was another reason we were friends. I didn’t have to worry about anything I said getting back to my family, but was she alone?
“Are you comfy? Have a beverage and snack?” I asked. Her power shifted, and the leather of her favorite chair creaked as she wiggled into it. “Anyone around who can hear me?”
