I’m so joyful to share my new album ‘A Lyrical Fash Bash’… It’s out now wherever you get music.... ❤️🌱🎧 #musicsky #antifascist #alternativehiphop #hiphop #ukhiphop

A mixed media painted collage by Summer and B of Briz - big white letters spell out the title 'A Lyrical Fash Bash' and the artist 'B of Briz' at the bottom of the black frame. - a cloudy sky, with a midnight sun. In the foreground, a mountain range, each mountain with B's 'visage' carved onto it - each from a different era. Lurking behind the mountain - the monster of fascism, red, fleshy, toothy, lurking.

My new album is coming next week! I’m as excited and scared about this release as I ever have been. Sometimes it feels fuckin wild to have emotions this big about the sonic version of some drawings I did that in another life would have gone up on the fridge. But here we are! ❤️🌱🎧 #musicsky #ukmusic

I'm so excited that the first preview/ review of my album (coming 6th Oct) is here! @meansmagazine.bsky.social have OK'd me to share this screenshot, but please consider supporting Means Magazine... a true celebration of arts /culture beyond the mainstream! meansmag.bandcamp.com/merch/means-... ❤️🌱🎧

Returning for their second album, B of Briz continue their mission to unpick the ills of modernity one rap at a
time. I don’t want to say ‘this is the sort of thing that is usually quite shit’ but I just have. The fact is, knocking
out ropey, two-dimensional lyrics is commonplace (and probably deeply unhelpful) - B of Briz, however, succeeds
by actually writing good lyrics, marrying social critiques with a level of self-analysis that wonderfully paints the
position of a struggling politically-minded artist trying to navigate the sharp-end of late-stage capitalism. There
is a playfulness at work that frames political critique as more than performative - accordions and squelching
synths provide a knowing irony that supports the lyrical flow, providing a depth and reason to the anger that
underpins the words on offer. The result is a weirdly grounded stream of consciousness that drifts between the
external and the internal, teasing on-the-nose declarations with abstract language, trip-hop breaks with emotive
pianos and vaguely hauntological synths. There is a certain repetition, structurally at least, a to and fro that
enables the lyrics to take the spotlight. Despite this, each track reveals layers of colours and timbres - not quite
verses and choruses but more subtly changes of mood and instrumentation that mirrors the emotional intelligence
of the lyrics. Tracks like ‘Dear Antifa’ ruminates on the process of signing up to an organisation that doesn’t
really exist (in a structural sense), managing to laugh at the vagueness and intangibility of the left even as it
celebrates it. This is the great thing about B of Briz - its super critical of the dominant socio-economic systems,
but mediates such critique through the lived, and occasional contradictory, experience of actually living in the
world it berates. Such complexity, rather than compromising the message, serves to amplify its necessity.

It's true of any truly humanitarian movement: “We’ll never turn anyone away who’s open to learning, anyone who helps us put out the books that are burning, Who is there when the clouds roll in and the sky turns black Who’s helping as the floods roll back.“ bofbriz.bandcamp.com/track/not-th...

In ‘Not that deep’ (out now!), I explore what it means that we’re here every day in the living remnants of a morally bankrupt and discredited ideology – we on the Left have to welcome everyone in solidarity who is reorienting themselves away from it (even imperfectly) #musicsky #alternativehiphop

The Gov can't bury their heads in the sand about acting on our behalf- not on behalf of tech oligarchs who are pushing their novel technology out so aggressively without any clear benefit to ordinary people, and any regard to the harm being done. Strict liability and proper regulation are needed.

There's no way for AI to make anything 'fairer'. It's built on one of the world's most massive acts of theft. It's run by scum. As a constituent, Darren, it's a shame you're not thinking about how to protect your constituents from a technology that's mainly used for sexual abuse, fraud and slop.
