The left isn’t weak because of infighting. The left is weak because every facet of our society and economy is geared to the benefit of fascism and white supremacy and it is the challenge of multiple lifetimes to dismantle all of that.

Yeah, you can miss the point and harp of the fact that this the first official public execution since whenever, I guess. But the point is clearly the justice system is different depending on who you are. Like, Fred Hampton and the Move bombing off the top of my head.

Well, he's gotta do something to distract from the likelihood that ICE shooting a father, with his small child in the car, in the Bronx, just provoked the entirety of New York City a month ahead of the Midterms.

when you see stuff like this, suddenly it isn't really hard to believe the IDF when they say they knew about the october 7th attack beforehand and that it was allowed to happen as a pretense for this, which so completely outweighs it in every conceivable metric. I hope there's justice one day

It makes about as much senses to ask if pagan faiths allow the use of drugs, or racism. Neither existed in their current form in pre Christian societies. Some disallow one or the other. Some require one or both. Many have rules for different roles/situations that are more practical than ethical.

I mean, we're fairly certain the Pythagoreans worshiped Math, were vegetarian, and didn't eat beans. Hare Krishnas won't eat alliums because they're believed to be sexually stimulating and thus interfere with yogic devotion. But a lot of pagan faiths are more pragmatic than soterial.

Bodhisattva Comrade Spacemonkey @bodhisp4cem0nkey.bsky.social · 19/09/2026
It's really hard to say how things were practiced in pre-Christian paganism per se because we really mostly have textual evidence to go on, but a lot of it was more likely 'the way of life of our people', what will please or piss off X spiritual powers, or how-to's and ancestral teachings.

But at the end of the day, the 1:1 relationship between moral law and faith found in Abrahamic faiths is not universal. Hell, universality itself is something fairly modern and, in a western context, drawn from a synthesis of Greek thought and Abrahamic theology.

Much like anti-communists like this remind me of how royalists in the 17th century talked about Cromwell (Who was objectively a genocidal freak. Ask the Irish.) and the prospect of a Commonwealth as a system of government. Jesus, you'd think sane people read Milton.

Ultimately, in Buddhist teachings you can do whatever you want, but you can't escape the law of Karma. The Karma of taking a life is believed to be pretty severe, especially if it's your parents or a bodhisattva. Also if you have taken vows, which usually involve not killing, the karma is real bad.

There's a story about one of Shakyamuni Buddhas earlier incarnations where he was on a boat with a bunch of bodhisattvas and a man who was plotting to kill them, so he killed the guy. accounts differ if the karmic consequence was going to hell very briefly or a splinter in his toe.

Stupid AI usage almost started WW3 Cool. Boy, am I glad that we're totally talking about the right kind of existential risk, like escalating interimperial rivalries, or climate change, and not this "AI will go rogue" stuff... right? www.cnn.com/2026/09/18/p...
The intelligence report, circulated across the US military this spring in the midst of the war with Iran, immediately set off alarm bells: A Chinese ship in the Middle East was transporting components of a nuclear weapons program.

The US military swung into action with plans to intercept the vessel, according to four sources familiar with the episode. According to two of the sources, armed members of the US military were preparing to board the ship. Military planes were in the air, one of those sources and another source familiar with the incident said.

It was only just before the planned operation that officials dug deeper into the report put together by a special operations command analyst and found it had been generated with the help of artificial intelligence (AI) — and that a chatbot the analyst had used inaccurately identified the material the ship was carrying. CNN was not able to learn what the misidentified cargo was.

The report, according to one of the sources, was “entirely false.” But it also “almost started a war,” the source said. Any US operation against a Chinese vessel could have risked spiraling into an armed conflict between the two nations.

How about instead of talking about X vulnerable population as a distraction from other fuckery, we talk about in terms of a feint in a fight. Nobody thinks you should take a punch to the face, but a fake to the face can lead to a knee to the balls.

The same people who are on this BS also blame people for dysregulating. When you are completely chronically stressed the fuck out, you *need* comforts to self regulate. Any conversation about enabling that doesn't take this into account is abuse apologia IMO.

Every good art professor I have ever had banned 'like' and 'dislike' from class critiques for that reason. Sure, enjoyment is a factor in the desire to engage with art, but no so much when it comes to literacy. And the craft is about what is happening and what works.

But yeah, fandoms themselves have been getting weaponized because of what you're talking about. See gamergate and the saga around HP fandom. The increasingly parasocial organization of social structures is a factor as well.

Its being overtly manipulated. Stochastic terrorism ups the stress level, algo driven products hijack people's dopamine cycles. Double fuckery in that identity and discomfort are also used to reinforce structural hierarchies and reactionary politics. It's the propaganda machine on crack.

But learning to balance leaning into discomfort when stressed takes intention and work. On a mass scale of averages, you can manipulate a majority of the population through their unconscious comfort seeking habits.

For real, so much of these 'systems' are about disciplining and controlling people while wrapping it in care language, and gaslighting the shit out of people when they object. If it didn't provide me some backdoor access to get resources and advocate for people, I'd be gone. It's fucking disgusting.
