Here’s the pitch: They hire back the accidentally-fired bird flu folks *and* the accidentally-fired nuclear security guys BUT they put them in each other’s jobs — also by accident! It’s TRADING PLACES meets FAILSAFE meets CONTAGION — and maybe also FREAKY FRIDAY! Need a title.

what if you reduce the margins oh so slightly...because I found I could make a 1.5 page minimal paper a 2 page robust document right quick.

Regarding reducing - in working w/ students on probability questions, they are often surprised when I suggest that not only is reducing NOT necessary, the un-reduced form provides better information. 10/36 as the probability of rolling a sum of 8 with 2 dice provides information which 5/18 doesn't.

Except the question doesn't say "evaluate", it says "work out". If the intent of the question is to assess student understanding of simplest forms, then this should be clear in the prompt.

Yep. Always need to keep in mind what the intent of our questions are. If we're assessing a parallel skill, we need to make that transparent.

Two numbers are reciprocals if the product of the two numbers is 1. The student has provided a number which satisfies this definition. Full marks.

"Math - It's Fun and Compulsory" is just delicious. I'd love to see "show your work" develop into the return of blogging, but accept that "show your work" can cause disagreements even between two teachers right next to each other.
