Like strain, it's supposed to be commented on wherever possible even if it's normal. If it isn't being routinely commented on (and it doesn't sound like it is) then you should feed that back to your hospital's echo lead and point them towards the BSE guidelines.

It was designed to make things more straightforward, but you'll occasionally see "indeterminate" when supplementary measurements aren't available. In that case all the usual values should be there anyway. My PhD supervisor is the former BSE president mind, so I've had more exposure than many others.

Not necessarily. Departmental accreditation and local policy will be a factor. The guidelines have been in place since 2024 though, so it should be reported in line with them .

Ultimately it's something that should be mentioned with relevant abnormal findings elsewhere, and given the vast majority of the measurements are standard anyway, is just good practice to comment on regardless imo.

You should now see "Normal diastolic fn w/ normal/elevated filling pressures" or "Impaired diastolic fn with normal/elevated filling pressures". All of the previous measurements used still apply, as well at LA strain & PV Dopplers if needed.

It should be reported with every scan, and an assessment should feature on every report (every single one of my reports features a comment on diastolic function as standard). Severity grading doesn't really apply anymore, as per the most recent BSE diastology guidance;
