Polymarket is not just causing all the obvious problems, they’re also inciting racism online through intentionally vague posts. The statistic they’re referring to is that there are more people born in India in Australia than people born in England. That’s not how it’s being interpreted though.

New from me: No increase in global coal power generation after Hormuz closure - solar and wind growth covered the fall in gas-fired generation. The record buildout of clean energy in 2025 helped mitigate the impact of the Hormuz closure.

I’m loving all the people arguing now that Pakistan’s solar boom was inevitable and obvious, but nothing comparable could happen in other countries in future. It wasn’t obvious in 2022, when Pakistan saw no role for solar in fixing the energy import dependencies that had just sent it to the IMF! 🧵

The thing is that these shipments of crude oil, LNG & refined fuels are big. There’s a threshold effect. You don’t just get a little bit of a shipment. If you’re outbid you lose the whole lot. So poor countries lose supply.
