I took some photos tonight after shooting some video. I enjoy the “imperfect” stuff I make. AI is exhausting. Make something for yourself. It might just give you some energy. Also, animal companions are the best. Here is one of my familiars.

How do you make sure mechanics match up with theme in a game? Personally, I think it’s incredibly important for the two to match and feel like they can’t be separated.

The new customer mocked him saying “I would have expected more from someone who actually works at a board game store.” My question is why? Why can’t people just like the things they like? This seems important to remember as we head to Gen Con this week.

A reminder about liking what you like: My 18 year old son works at a board game store and was asked by a visiting customer what his favorite games are. He responded with Finspan and Patchwork. Although he has played more complicated games (and won) he enjoys the simplicity of these games.

Non-game related: one of my goals this year is to find a way to replace more of my lawn with non-grass. I don’t love lawns, and I would much rather watch birds and pollinators. One of the reasons I could never live in an HOA. If you have replaced, what have you done?

It's by Radim Jurda who also designed Insula. Although it has a similar feel to the video game (super chill), the game stands on its own as a light exploration game. The video game is fun too though, definitely started me on my @amanita-design.net play throughs of games.
