The vague language around Kai-Sei is important. They stripped Godzilla of his association with nuclear weaponry in place of unspecified experiments with...what? "Life"? Earth balance juice? That's still radioactive, maybe, but...good? Americans just can't do an actual American Godzilla story.

Like, in general, I don't actually want humans fighting kaiju hand-to-hand. It's just not the vibe. Starship Godzilla, though, is pretty fun. MechaGodzilla as a ship lets you do everything in that setting between genres seamlessly, and it's the best written.

Idk why the main book wasn't centered on Jacen, or explained what Kai-Sei is, and it's weak their Godzilla was beaten by a teenager. Deadzone is just boring misanthropic apocalypse stuff with an infuriating narrator. The Wanderer is repetitive after Jacen.

I finally picked up the Kai-Sei Era books, and they're...ok. Two of them are superficially doing shonen manga tropes. Starship Godzilla seems fully unrelated and I'd have liked some backstory, but also it's the best of the three and really my kinda fun.

Wait, is this what people thought about Digger? The trailer showed a stylized movie starring Tom Cruise, one of our best actors, hamming it up in not action. Like, you don't go into a climate change movie like that unless you're confident. I really can't tell what other people think...

A big difference between Mothra and Godzilla is that Godzilla has had "return to form" movies as the villain he is. Not only has there never been another movie with Mothra as the wrath of God, but they passed that metaphor over to Battra so she could be the fairy tale eco princess.

"Russos announce that they want people to pay attention, please."

Forgotten Island is awesome!

In short, I'm thinking I should start somewhere else, until I get there. Take pressure off my (lack of) ability to reach my ambitions in the short term, give myself a reason to make art without defining my whole future.

I live alone and work full time, and admittedly I'm in a great position in life. I have less time for making comics than ever and way more for potential comics income to replace. I also just don't feel adequate artistically, and would like to feel confident in my voice.

The other morning, I was sitting in the office at work feeling really overwhelmed, tired, and scared of being stuck in my job. I felt 1000x more optimistic after lunch, but I want to hold onto that feeling as a reminder that I want to be doing something else sooner than later.

The cutting to Iraq War coverage, paired with Chris being scared of the violent desires of the man on the plane while also thinking he's doing battle with the devil.

It's crazy that Chris Hansen is just still doing this with a streaming thing, and that I found that out because it ran an ad before Primetime.

Sometimes I think Batman shouldn't be so sad and dark all the time. What I really want is for Batman to be defined more strongly by what he's gained over the decades since his big loss. He's a family man, he's been a playboy and had friends and learned world class skills.

As I struggle to get past Kraid in Super Metroid, I'm reminded of the time I played Mario 3D, thinking I'd get good at it if I stuck through to the end. I died 30 times with an invincible raccoon tail on the last level in that game.

Hope is really good. Starts out running and doesn't stop till the end. Good action, design, and unexpected humor. That was an interesting way to end the movie, though.

Death of Robin Hood, and I think there was one more. Even two in the same year seems like an unusual event. Robin Hood isn't usually the tough, gritty killer guy.

Why are there so many movies about action hero Robin Hood this year?

I'm actually really interested in seeing what they do here. Ghidorah is almost always mind controlled, and his first appearance was about, like, space age fears. What's he doing in this post-war drama?

So yeah, Pokemon meets Jurassic Park. I realize they (probably) would never make a whole generation of fossil Pokemon. This is my dream game. Tons of fossil stuff and a Hisui-style Pokedex! Plus, there's modern Pokemon survivalism to work in.

000

As you go about this, more mysterious and dangerous things happen, and it becomes clear there's a saboteur trying to take down the facility for their own gain. In doing so, they could unleash these fossil species into modern environments, and no one can predict the effects of such a disaster.

100

Just before you go out for a tour, there's a power outage, island wide. The next day, they realize it'll take weeks, at least, to fix. They ask you to work on your Pokedex the old fashioned way, making a long list of observations that the Rotoms can upload later, when there's Internet again.

100

You get there and run into the other intern selected for this semester, a kid from a rival school. They're competitive and snotty. The director gives you Rotom Dexes and asks you to help them collect data on the specimens. You also get to take one of three rare fossils as a partner for close study.

Jadehook @bnnypwn.bsky.social · 05/09/2026

Pokemon Fossil You are selected for an internship at a special research facility. You're excited, because they've revived hundreds of fossil species from all over the world and study them in painstakingly-recreated environments on a tropical island.

111

It's pretty fun, yeah. I think there's a lot left unexplored with a particular relationship, and the character arc isn't super clear. Adria Arjona is great.

Jadehook @bnnypwn.bsky.social · 05/09/2026

Onslaught has a lot more style than the trailer made it look.

9. A good story. Kinda not much to suggest here, really. I think Pokemon has been doing really well with story design lately and are on a good trajectory. I like how much we get to know characters, and the distinct story campaigns in Gen IX were great.

8. A Legends Arceus-style Pokedex. I want to really get to know the world and the Pokemon. The in-depth Pokedex in Arceus was amazing, and I'm sad it wasn't brought forward into Gen IX. This doubles as a way to give "side missions" in a standard game without distracting players too much.

That's the main thing on my mind, but I'm sure there are other things people could ask for. I know there's a reasonable limit to how many clothes can and should be in the game, and it's hard to be inclusive of all religious and cultural dress options. But it'd be nice to see more.

7. More inclusive character customization options. As a nonbinary person, I'd like to be able to explore the Pokemon world as a nonbinary character. Don't gender lock clothes buying, and allow pronoun changes where language-appropriate.

I'm actually not that sold on open world, so far. There have been some good uses, but Paldea was kinda flat and boring. There needs to be more direction from the story and world design. I'd be ok with classic towns and routes that are designed in that fashion, similar to Legends Arceus.

6. Lots of water, lots of dungeons. My ideal region would look like a combination of Unova and Hoenn (I'm old). Lots of waterways to explore (more evenly distributed), lots of little extra caves and forests just to have fun and do side stories. The Wind and Waves region look cool.
