Apparently I'm on strike from tomorrow. So I'm doing picket duty for 6 hours a day the rest of the week. My own views about the strike and the reasons behind it are irrelevant, as I'm a member of a union and they're on strike. But it's legitimate to not be thrilled about this.

My project for this spring, hopefully they'll be ready for the season. 😀 18" AC Schnitzer Type 2 Racing wheels. Restored and remade to 8.5 and 9.5" width, which was the option for the E39. Looking forward to seeing them on the car. #BMWE39 #E39 #ACSCHNITZER #535i

It's now mid-April, but this year the 535i will stay in winter storage a little longer than usual. The last years I've used it for a vacation to Denmark the first weekend of May, but this year we'll use the F10. The plan is to do the timing chains this year, and maybe (cont.) #BMWE39 #E39 #535i

Look at the northern lights @jtsveigdalen.bsky.social and I saw last night. Disclaimer: this picture was taken with a 5 second exposure time. To the bare eye, only the green flowing waves were visible, but the long exposure time caught some other interesting colors too. 😀

Last week, I drove the 535i up to its winter storage location, and on the way up there, I took the back roads. And along these roads I know that there are some good scenery. And that day, with the skies and the background, I took what I believe to be the best picture I've ever taken of the 535i.

I remember some years ago when I saw a little insect on my wall. I thought it had a weird shape, so I took a picture and magnified it. And it had arms with pincers, just like a tiny scorpion. 🦂 But it didn't have the tail. Turns out this is a pseudo scorpion. Never seen one since. #pseudoscorpions

Rear and front view cameras was a rare and expensive retrofit on the BMW E39. By using some OEM parts, and some aftermarket parts, like a Siemens LOGO! PLC, I've made my own rear and front camera system. Unfortunately there was never any buttons for the E39/38 models with a camera symbol on them. 1/

I put in laundry today, and the laundry machine said "Software Update" I clicked Ok, and the machine blacked out and a progress bar appeared. After a while it was done and turned back on. So I'll check the clothes carefully, and I'll be disappointed if they're not cleaner now than they used to be. 😄

I've just watched a documentary about the sinking of the cruise ship Oceanos in 1991. The crew left the ship, and eventually it was the ship's magician and guitarist that sent a Mayday and got the last 200+ pssengers rescued. If you didn't know this story was true, you wouldn't believe it. 🤔😄

Last year I finally got a hold of something I've been after for years; the M-Audio subwoofers for the rear shelf. These are 10" units, and they are run off of the OEM DSP amplifier. My 535i didn't have DSP from factory, so I've gone the route with Intravee, Alpine PXA-H100 DSP, two aftermarket /1

The highlight of all the road trips I've done with the 535i through the years: down to Nürburgring and then south to München, and on to Asphaltfieber. I got one lap at the Ring, and despite not going race speed, it was entertaining. Plus I got some good pics to buy afterwards. 😀 This was in 2018 /1

So I was sure the hedgehog (HVAC blower fan FSU) on my daily driver E39 520i was bad. But it turned out that it was the fan that was bad, apparently stuck. Both FSUs I tried just got very hot immediately, and the fan didn't move. 😥 So it seems like I have a dash-out job in front of me this winter.

So I've been annoyed by how hot it is and an apparent lack of airflow and air exchange in the apartment that I rent. I thought it was a summer issue, but it's still that way despite becoming colder outside. So I opened up the ventilation box, and kinda figured out why this was. 😅 I think this /1

So I keep my 535i stored during the winter, from October to April. It's parked in a friend's garage, so I went to check on it yesterday, and the outside temperature was so good that I even fired it up one last time this year. I also installed a heat shield that I've bought for the ABS/DSC unit. 1/

Cars is my big hobby, and this is my E39 535i. I've had 5 E39s, and owned this car for 7 years. I've done a few modifications, while also trying to keep it OEM looking. I like to call the upgrades OEM+, as in using BMW parts and accessories. #BMWE39 #E39 #535i
