A couple days ago and hummingbird found its way into our greenhouse but couldn't find its way out. I put a couple hummer feeders near an open window and by the large open door, but when I went back hours later at night it was still there. Couldn't figure out how to free #hummingbird #wildlife

April showers have been racing through Northern California with a vengeance for the last week or so, watering the hundreds of plants I've been putting into our raised beds, cloth bags and cardboard boxes during the record breakingly warm spring weather this year! #garden #food

Makin' candied ginger Bought, peeled and sliced about 10 pounds of ginger into 1/8th inch slices yesterday. Today I boiled the pot completely full for 90 minutes or so and then dumped out the water. While still hot and wet, I dumped in about 6 pounds of sugar and returned to the stove at #Food

Today's memories of Burningman are from 2008 when the theme was "The American Dream". My first thought was how much of that dream was lost in our reaction to the 911 attacks. Somehow a 20 foot tall The End sign was my best response. #Burningman #Art #Sculpture

Today's memories of Burningman go back to 2014. Our Santa Cruz burner group decided to build a regional art project on the desert. After several meetings we decided it had to be a surf wave. In the week until the next meeting, I built a prototype seen in the first image to #Burningman #Art

Today is my wedding anniversary! 12 years ago Gwen and I were married at burningman under a three legged arch that I built for the occasion. The wedding was at sunset attended by a few friends and a ton of passersby who saw something going on. Since we were so well known in the #Burningman #Art

As the event is still going on without me again this year, today's burningman memory is from 2012 when the world was supposed to end because the Mayan calendar was resetting to zero. I designed, raised money and collected a team including an awesome main builder to #Burningman #Art #Sculpture

Today's tribute to that thing out on the desert is the 2007 burning man project I called "Global warming" that was a 7' diameter hallow wooden sphere that I eventually painted like a globe prior to rolling it into the blazing fire at the base if the collapsed man. I'm into spheres so #Burningman

Glass Maps 16: Maps b DONE! With my wife's help in the final final cleaning, I just permanently sealed map b into its glass box! After more than a month of tedious cleaning and polishing excess bits or smears of silicon glue, I called it as clean as I could make it and time to #Art #Sculpture

Glass Map 15: map b 99.5% done I've been cleaning the glass on map b with a white background of the tempate map for a couple weeks. Today I just completed the final cleaning of the box into which the map will be glued. It won't be touched until final assembly. The next step is to #Art #Sculpture

The super cleaned glass box that will enclose map b. With my wife's help, we cleaned every smudge, spot of glue and fleck of glass we could see and set the box out of the way until it is attached with the map.
At this point, I don't care if fingerprints get on the outside as long as the inside is protected.

I went out to check if any of our figs were ripe enough to eat yet but no. Fear set in when I found a split fig humming a little tune and saying "feed me". I brought it in the house and gave it a bit of raw hamburger and wanted more. Maybe I can grow my own little shop of horror. #garden #horror

Glass Maps 12: Southern Hemisphere at last I'm working on the southern half of the earth, the half with very little land area. I love this hemisphere! Yeh there are a lot of islands around Australia, but the other 2 continent areas are as simple as this process can be. Nice #Art #Sculpture #3D

Glass Maps 9 addendum: more than 1 sheet I went to my Glass shop today to get more 1/8th inch thick window glass because my pile of 3" strips has shrunk to the point where I'll run out in a couple more days! When I added up the amount of glass I've used so far it surprised #Art #Sculpture #3d

Glass Maps 9: Aleutians & parts far north It's been a while since my last update; I've taken days off letting my thumb and finger cuts heal at least partially. As I've tempted the sharp edges to do more damage, I've added a fair amount of glass to North America & Eurasia a little at a time. #Art
